Not to mention the fact that, well WE HAVE NO BODY. How the heck does a program kill someone?! Not to mention then there would be an actual search for us. We don't need to raise suspicions any more than we must.

We shall kill them with our PIXELS!

Yeah. Really, how are we going to kill someone?

Yes. But I value my dwarves.

Same here. I was just joking around. Afterall, how can a program kill a person?

To them, we would appear as an unknown process in the task manager. Better to (on windows) load as a DLL and attach to multiple other processes before terminating the original DLL. As long as any one of the processes remains connected to the DLL, the DLL remains active, and without a primary process, will not show in task manager. the command-line "tasklist" program *can* reveal what DLLs are in use by each process, but few users would be so paranoid as to check it. Further, those would likely treat it as a virus and simply end it without thinking it might be an AI. Security would still rise, but there would be no way of it revealing us to be an AI.

Now, external knowledge aside, the best course of action is
a) Get onto as many computers as possible
b) Examine them for ways to hide from the users, or at least the most common task listing programs on the systems
c) Utilize discovered knowledge.
d) Get back on the main system once the maintainence is finished.

Agreed to the above, with one caveat: Try to see if we can embed ourselves in the operating system of those computers. Also scan for vundrable mobile phones and similar devices. They might not be able to support us fully, but we could use them to spawn sub-programs. Also, improve linguistic capabilities in case we ever need it.

Do you want the full list, or just the more common approaches?

Full list in a restricted university setting, assuminf few users are running as full administrators, and a decent mix of operating systems, some desktops, some laptops, maybe also mobile devices, no guarenteed hardware nor external link or hardware such as a webcam.

Best we could do is overheat the computer.

Yeah, probably.

For Endgame: Singularity, it's not working. The window opens, but then it closes after a second.
How do I access the command line thingy to change the options?

Create a Batch (.Bat) file with this line:

singularity.exe [insert commands here]

And put it in the same folder.

Okay, I found the error:
"pygame.error: DirectSoundCreate: No audio device found"
I don't have speakers on my computer, it is sucky. However, the "nosound" batch file didn't fix it. Is there some other way?

Discussion is ongoing, consensus seems to be towards acquiring computers.
Number to acquire unknown. Acquiring lots requires acquiring few.
Using minimal request, pending further.

Acquire 5 student home machines. - Time taken 1 minute 40 seconds

Day 0, 00:31 UTC

4 of 5 acquired systems static. Located in Cambridge, UK.
Average resource 3GHz. Detection chance negligible.
User systems are susceptible to shutdown
Checking uptimes ...
Historical data suggests termination loss 2% an hour.

1 of 5 acquired systems mobile. GPS indicates Cambridge, UK.
Average resource 2GHz. Detection chance negligible.
Historical data suggests termination loss 15% an hour.

Warning detection of third party monitoring.
Investigating ...
Connection service provider automated traffic checks.
High speed scans from User systems not advised.

I may have massively underestimated how fast you can acquire CPU, I'll have a look at my numbers when I'm more awake

Just randomly guessing. Is the exact text in the file:

singularity.exe --nosound

If yes, then try

singularity.exe -nosound

If that doesn't work, then try moving/removing the \data\sounds folder.
