Facts:
Quote
"Whitworth was ultimately charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and second-degree child endangerment (he ultimately pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge for possessing drug paraphernalia and paid a $300 fine according to Missouri's Case.net -- all other charges were dropped). The drug charges were apparently related to the discovery of what news reports described as "a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana." The child endangerment charge seems to be the result of Whitworth daring to be at home with his wife and seven-year-old son when the storm troopers burst in and shot two family dogs -- killing a pit bull and injuring a corgi."

Read: A standard issue casual weed smoker, not a dealer. Period. SWAT team, for a guy with $20 of weed. Your tax dollars at work.

What you are saying is too strongly worded, by a lot. You referred to the SWAT team members as "stormtroopers." Since when were they Nazis?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Maybe he was talking about the white--------clad foot soldiers of the empire?!?!?!?!?!?!??! Probobly not though,,,,,, they wouldn''''''t have been able to hit their dog.............. They''''''''re abysmal shots!!!!!!!!!! haha!!!!!!!! Or perchance he was being metaphorical?!?!?!??!?!? No best just take everything literally all the time,,,,,,, only way to be sure!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched it and didn't actually see a dog getting shot "in front of the kids" or at all actually. I mean, am I missing something? What time did the dog get shot? They make this out to be this huge graphic warning deal, and I expected the police to be smacking the kids around with their dog's entrails, and I couldn't even notice when it happened.

I mean, I get that this was a bad thing, but the hyperbole of the author on the website is pretty ridiculous. You cut down a tree, you call it cutting down a tree. You don't call it deforestation.

Not to be insulting MSH, but you might have an irrational fear of the police.

A huge, crippling, overreactive fear? Likely. Irrational? No.
You have to remember that under our current system, police can kill innocents or suspects and get away with it, more often than not. An irrational fear is somthing that will almost certainly never happen to you, like being eaten by a grue or having your apartment blown up by a meth lab explosion. This can, has, and will continue to happen untill actions to reform the police occur. But reform won't be happining, because people are too slow to understand that everyone whom we elect these days either does nothing, or only bad things. Politics has fallen to a new low, because the wishes of the people no longer matter. Only insuring the dominance of your chosen party matters to those within the political arena these days.

I'm willing to bet that if you ask most people will say that they haven't been murdered by the police.

Let us say that 200 people are kidnapped by the government to be tortured to death for reasons of national security each year. This doesn't happen, but if if it did and we knew about it, people would not say that it can be ignored because the chances are very high in their favor. You are arguing from a statistical standpoint that on the whole, people are not killed by the police when they encounter them. But it still happens and untill we reach a point where the police are careful enough for this to not happen often, with justice being served when it does still happen, then the system is broken.

He's making a joke about how someone who is murdered by the police won't respond to your questioning. Because they've been murdered, and people who are murdered are dead, and dead people do not think or speak.

So if you were to perform a survey of 100 people, and 50 had been murdered by the police while 50 had not, then 100% of their responses will be in the "have not been murdered by the police" category.

I've never had any wrongdoing against me from police, though for some reason they pulled me over for going 87. Afterwards, I decided to give a generous donation to Warren County.

You could save yourself from wrongdoing with a baseball cap camera recorder, which I would like to call dibs on creating. They will also come in fez and fedoras, since apparently people like them too.

I understand your sarcastic jokes perfectly well, but I choose to ignore them in favor of provoking serious debate.

If you honestly think your opinions are going to provoke any reasonable, even debate instead of just scorn and worry, then I have bad news for you.

I was twice pulled over while on foot. Policeman demanded to see my ID.

I was just talking with a friend the other day who explained that he was stopped by a parked squad car checkpoint in a bad part of town, because there was some drug activity in the neighborhood, and they demanded that he empty his pockets. He was walking on the sidewalk.

Now we don't have a national ID in the US. Your driver's license is not a required piece of ID unless you're driving. Now a bar can ask to see your ID or refuse service, because they could be fined for serving a minor. And you're in a private establishment, so they can ask you to do whatever and you can just walk out if you don't like it.

But if a policeman stops you walking down the sidewalk, and asks to see your ID, you don't have to show a driver's license to him or even admit that you're carrying one. And when it comes down to it, he needs to arrest you or let you go.

But that's such a huge hassle, and the police can be such shitbelching dicks sometimes, that as a citizen you're better off just acquiescing. Which sucks. It's what I did, twice. And I'll roll over again, the next time it happens, because I don't want some powertripping 'tard ruining my day / life.

My hometown has municipal codes relating to "public safety and morality". Among those are flag laws, which state that it's illegal to "defy the flag" whatever the heck that means. It's illegal to damage it or spit on it as well, even in your own basement apparently. And it's illegal to display any worn items that have an image of the flag on them. Better hope the president doesn't come around with an American flag pin!

But that's just it. They don't have to arrest you for those things. Those laws are on the books strictly so that if you're not really doing anything wrong, they can still bust your chops for a $500 fine if they feel like it. It's virtually impossible to avoid breaking a law as you go through your day. Effectively, they can screw you over if they want to.

I would much prefer that they can not screw me over, even if they want to, unless there is actually a good reason.

But there you go. You are not free.
