the uk a house can be gutted to grow the stuff and only a few cops will be sent to arest the growers.

yes we have less guns around but still there
maybe the rareity of guns stops deadbeat thugs from geting them.
no smart or sane person has a shoot out with the cops because:
if you "win" you will be hunted as a felon and a cop killer
if you lose you will do added time or be dead.

I still don't see why they couldn't have just ambushed the two adults when they leave the house and arrested them outside where they can't possibly get the jump on the cops, and then searched the house.

Anyway, if I was leading a SWAT team to arrest one guy in a house, I would've surrounded the house, and then used a megaphone to tell him to come out. If he didn't do it within a reasonable timeframe (2 minutes, not 2 seconds like they did), I'd launch some tear gas through the windows, and if he still doesn't get out *then* I'd send officers in (first one carrying a tactical shield). Safer for both the cops and the arrestee.

Can you imagine the press response to the headline:

"Kid tear gassed in SWAT fuck-up"

Although I haven't read the article, I can only imagine there may have been some pre-existing conditions that would call for the need of a SWAT team.

It's not like they just... randomly deploy them with "Shoot on sight" instructions to minor offenses.

To me its not the raid itself that is aggravating, its the dog shooting. I assume that these guys were given bad intel or that something went wrong in the planning so thats why they used a fucking swat team on a suburbanite. But the shooting the dogs, which were chained up from what I've heard, is just stupid and gratuitous. Especially the Corgi.

Well I can't pretend to understand their motivation, but I choose not to jump to conclusions in situations like this.

It is lamentable that a living creature had to lose its life, but I simply do not know enough about what the SWAT team expected to make a judgment.

One was a pitbull (The one they killed, pitbulls can be really dangerous and are one of the classic guard dog breeds.)  The other was a corgi, I think they were just trigger-happy with that one.

Corgis are ankle-biters, until they learn about the heels those ankles attach to. Their bite isn't very pleasant too. Of course, they're like, a foot tall

You know, now that I've actually seen the video (It wasn't loading for me before), I don't see the issue. They didn't burst in, guns blazing like everybody here is saying. They shot two, maybe three bursts at the dogs. This doesn't seem all that out of the ordinary.

So, say you had some illegally pirated music, you wouldn't find it at all objectionable if the swat team raided your house in the middle of the night and shot your cat?

The point here is they had no reason to use a swat team on this guy and the swat team had no reason to shoot the dogs. Maybe if the pitbull had charged them then yeah, ok, shoot the pit bull, but they shot the dogs IN SUCCESSION eg shot the pit bull, waited several seconds and then, for no reason, shot the corgi.
