Poll

Which version(s) do you play now?

Only the newest, brand, wonderful 0.31!
I will play 0.31 after bugfixes/OpenGL merge, for now, .40d
I play/will play both old 40d and new 0.31 versions.
Only the old, 40d version.
New versions? Ha! There's only one Dwarf Fortress: 2D version! And I play it!

Haspen has been curious lately... [poll]
« on: May 05, 2010, 06:26:54 am »

So, with all that fanciness and whatever, I got a mood to know how many players fanatically play the newest version, or if they're waiting for bugfixes and merge with OpenGL, like me.

I will most propably play 0.31 when:
-There will be merge with OpenGL version so I will have more than 10fps.
-Bugfixes, especially unkillable monsters, military and some other.

And I really miss few simple things from 40d, like insta-draft, and the easy military screen. Or the easy-to-modify raw files, especially for creatures/materials (shear? tendons? What the heck is verterbrae?).

Anyway! Go on, sate my curiosity.

I'd have to pick... Waiting for OpenGL merge, but not going back to 40d either.

There is no poll option for those not playing any version because they want the new features in .31 but can't play without basic military functionality. Like me.

I like the new raws, it takes a while longer to know how they work, but you can do way more with them.

And with that new modability you can at least fix some balancing and mortalize some creatures. Theres also an accelerator thing to keep the game at an acceptable speed for me.

I fooled around a bit with 0.31 to see what's new, but I won't start a serious game (whatever that means) until the merge.

Not playing any version currently. Waiting for the merge/bug fixes.

No option for this in the poll though...

I suppose I am technically not playing any version now, but waiting for merge/bugfixes...
But, I voted "I will play 0.31 after bugfixes/OpenGL merge, for now, .40d" anyways...

i like how many people are not playing 40d, but also waiting for 31.4 like myself. i voted option 2, despite not actually playing 40d currently.

edit: it would probably be a good idea to add the option and clear the poll before too many more people vote. . . .

The new version doesn't have vertebrae.  It has ribs, but hopefully you know what those are.

Me, I'm playing both 0.31 and 40d (40d18 to be more precise).
Most of the time I play with the new version, though sometimes I just want to play without worrying about bugs, annoyances and such (military, for example). It keeps both games refreshing when you change between them at times.

I originally promised myself not to start a fortress in .31 until the acid rain bug got fixed, but i gave in a couple days ago and promptly lost my weaponsmith to blood loss because his toes melted.

Waiting for OpenGL and Linux support (wine is too slow on my crappy comp) and playing real life in the meantime.  I'd gladly play despite the bugs if my fps was decent.

Have you tried enabling PARTIAL_PRINT in init?

Yeah, this is me too. But I have played the new version a bit, when it first came out. Didn't last too long, though.
