Quasar
Quazar (misspelling of Quasar; the Z makes it cool)
QZR
I'd like to buy a vowel.
qizzr
I'd like to buy another one.
Aqizzar

And that's how my name came to be.  Until I made it up for this forum, those specific letters had never been assembled in that specific combination, an ethos I strive for in all that I do.

My real name you ask?  It's an old Anglic name meaning "Mighty Ruler", and it's been born by many a storied king and celebrity.

Richard.

A fun tangent: What are the strangest names in your family tree?

Our family had a set of triplets back in the mid 1800's named Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Fun times, back when the Anglo population in the US was big into Hebrew names. Think we had a Zipporah too. And a Pinckney:

PINCKNEY
Gender: Feminine & Masculine

Usage: English

Pronounced: PIK-nee

Contributed by earthnut on 9/9/2008

From the surname Pinckney originally denoting someone from Picquigny, France, which derives from a Germanic personal name, Pincino (of obscure derivation) and the Latin locative suffix -acum. This surname was brought to England by the Normans and was used as a given name in the American south.

"Blissful."  It's pretty much derived from the Greek version of Valhalla, though the place is somewhat less dwarfy.  Erm.  "Warriors' heaven," I guess.

"Elysia" or something?  Are your parents classics nerds?

I'd guess something along the lines of "Alyssa". Pretty common female name these days. (Although that site claims that "Alyssa" may come from the Greek a lyssa, meaning "against rabies")  :P

I should clarify that I mean "classics nerds" in the best possible way (I minored in Latin, almost majored in Classics).

Heh, I bothered to do a basic google search for my family origins, and turns out that I come from sort of a noble "ironmonger" family. Which gives me the dwarfiest name, except that "noble" and "metalworking" don't go together for dwarves.

So you're a descendant of dungeon masters?

Close, but not quite--and no.  Father got masters in Mechanical Engineering (heat transfer) and Labor History; my mom has a BS in art.  Yes, that's right.  A science degree in art, specifically ceramics, metalworking, and blockprints.  If anyone guesses it right, I'll tell the entire story (complete with the odd and terrible alternatives they considered).

I would have said Xena.

Nope.

Absolutely not.  I'm the only person with my name that I've met (or seen in any of my school directories), and most of the people I meet can't pronounce it, either.

elisio is a pretty common name in my own country

... Not that one, either >_>

You're all pretty close.

Empyrea?  I couldn't find anything about it being for warriors, but the "blissful" part seems to fit.

Oh, sorry.  My name isn't on that site--so Elysia is the right root, but it's not the actual name.  With that in mind, I suppose I should just give it to you: Elysée.  Story time later.
