I decided to reward good deeds and spent $55. Looks like I get to be on the top 10 list for a few minutes.

edit: 3 minutes of fame over. They were sweet.

oh how I've missed John's voice on videos, Wolfire's been going directly through the devs for most of their recent videos.

Could someone who's played these games be so kind as to summarize 'em for the class?

I trust you guys a lot more than I trust descriptions, screenshots, and internet reviews.

And I've never heard of the company or any of its games, so.

Trine is a fun physics based platformer that lets you use three characthers with very different gameplay styles to solve various puzzles, it's fun, short and has some nice humor i guess, definatley reccomending it.Shadowgrounds i don't remember much of, it was a fun SHUMP but i can't recall anything else, i guess if you liked Alien Swarm (if you played it) you will probably like this one too :)

Trine was excellent - I'd recommend the bundle solely on it. It's a 2D (technically 2.5D, but whatever) game with a heavy emphasis on puzzle-solving, and a smattering of monsters here and there.  :D

Shadowgrounds is a top-down shooter - Jopax made the excellent comparison to Alien Swarm. I've never gotten around to playing the original, but the follow-up actually has a story (albeit a fairly cruddy one). Lots of opportunities to blast monsters into gore, but overall it's a generic top-down shooter. You'd get the same gameplay, if not the halfway-decent 3D graphics, from several Flash games.  :-\

Splot hasn't been released yet (AFAIK - are they offering a demo or something with the bundle?), and Jack Claw is the prototype of an unreleased and now-cancelled game, so no comment on either of those.  :P

Just got it. I'm hoping splot will be good. Because the icon is adorable.

There's no download for it yet, unfortunately.

Jack Claw is an interesting physics based thingie, you have a claw like Scorpion from marvel whcih you can use to toss stuff around. It comes with source code so it's an interesting item for coders who want to look into how to do that kind of stuff.

I was almost really excited when I heard about this because I got Shadowgrounds mixed up with Shadow Complex.

The should really release Shadow Complex for the PC... :)

The games in this one don't interest me quite as much as the last one, and I've already got Trine.

It's worth noting, according to what I read in the readme -after- installing it, that Jack Claw requires an x-box gamepad to play. No mention that I could see was made of this beforehand, so I thought I'd warn people here before they download it.

So far, the first Shadowgrounds is nothing special, but really, set your own price? Worth it for Trine alone, based on what I've heard of it.

I've never tried it, but there's a utility that translates normal gamepads to X-box pads.  x360ce

I think that header's changed over the course of the day, though, so it may not have been there earlier.

I definitely agree with your second point. You can pay as little as a penny for these games, so even if they're only 10 minutes of good gaming (and Trine alone is much more than that) it's well worth it.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.
