The Humble Indie Bundle
« on: May 04, 2010, 02:08:59 pm »

Wolfire Games and friends are at it again, this time with an all new 5 pack of great Indie games. The price?

Whatever you feel like! By default, half the proceeds go to charity (Child's Play and the Electronic Frontier Foundation) and half to the devs, but you have the option to split it whichever way you'd like.

Set your own price and get Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos, and Revenge of the Titans.

Freaking sweet!

Get it, DRM free and for all 3 major computing platforms, for whatever price you choose :D

Huh... there are some really good games in there and some great causes for the charities. Sounds like a good idea and definitely worth picking up if you're even thinking about playing them.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Penumbra overture is worth it alone. Its the first one right? That's by far one of the scariest games to come out in the past decade.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Yep, bare minimum of $0.01.

Which does beg the question: how do you split $0.01 evenly?

I gave 10 to charity alone. Curse student cash limits.

Had WoG, but I REALLY wanted Aquaria, and Gish looks interesting.

Can someone tell me about the other two? I don't want to waste my computers precious datas on "eh" games.

Lugaru is a ninja-style fighting action game starring furries. It's got a pretty sweet combat system though.
Penumbra is one of the best Horror games ever made, and also an evolution of the oldschool point and click adventure games implementing physics for lots of cool stuff.

I've been interested in Aquaria, so I might get this.  Gish didn't really do much for me when I played the demo a long time ago, and when I tried the demo of Lugaru just after it came out...huh, apparently that was just 2005 but it seems like it was more like ten years ago...I was actively repelled by its game mechanics (even though it looked otherwise interesting).  World of Goo doesn't look like something I'd spend much time on.  Penumbra I know nothing about.  (ED:  Though from what Tilla says, I probably want it very much.)

So essentially I'll be buying Aquaria, a game that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten..and some others that I'm not interested in.  I hope they understand that, when they consider that my donation is only going to be around $10.

Well, tried Gish. Got through the first "Zone". Was bored to tears, and promptly deleted it.

Hopefully Aquaria will be good?

Man, I've been intending to get Penumbra for so long.
I payed $25 for the pack and then took advantage of the "Penumbra collection for $5" deal too. I gave $16 of it to the developers.
I've played through Lugaru but never actually payed for it. Own World of Goo on the Wii. I've heard good things about Aquaria and nothing at all about Gish.

Works out pretty well, I think.
