I liked the art style in the first chapter the best. The blinding colors made me go grr.

I must disagree. The blinding colors made it easier to see what was what. I pretty much always prefer color of no color.

though color does not a good webcomic make.

Of course all the characters are sues. They are mad scientists in a world without any "heroes" to stop them, not much can stand in their way. If the comic were trying to tell some deep story is wouldn't work, but instead the whole thing runs on Rule of Cool.

Was I the only one who noticed that the art-style followed the story?

As soon as the locket came off, and she was "freed", the world was suddenly colored.

I did notice that. I find its the mark of a of a talented artist/story teller. the author/artist of dead winter ( http://www.deadwinter.cc/ ) does this with dream sequences.

The round face is just his art style. He draws everyone and everything like that. It's just cartoony, like the big eyes, small mouth, tiny pointy nose, hawkish face, transparent lock of hair, glaring expression, skeletal body of anime.

EDIT: And by that, I mean the anime that is like that. I'm not returning to this thread to see everyone post their favorite anime that is not like this.

*Digs out of hole*

....  I knew this art style was familiar...  Avernum is just about the same.

That is all.

I wouldn't call the main character a Sue. Once you accept the premise of 'sparks' you have a story, I feel, is far less contrived than Star Wars. The main character's initial uncertainty, the young Baron's immaturity; both are being shed as the characters develop. This is not a "Miss Magic pops into the world and solves everyone's problems and gets the cute boy all the other girls want". She's introduced as a complete dunce and is developing into a psychopath, while the Baron's son begins as a brooding aristocratic pompous asshole and is polishing up his armor into a white knight. And the development is believable. So yeah, I'll defend against the Sue accusations. She's about as Sue as Frodo.

You're all arguing over the wrong point. The real bone of contention is... WHO IS HIGGS!??!?!?

That's meant to be the creator's wife.

Does it seem like a disproportionate number of this sort of comic, what I can only call Geek-chic, feature girls as main characters? And as an extension, have any of them ever been believable as such?
