It's a submarine.  It has submarine positions open.  Most of those positions are "deck-monkey".

I don't know what any of this roleplayan stuff is about for a LP of a submarine sim, but it'll be great fun to watch someone who actually knows how to play this damn game.  If indeed people are signing up for positions and so forth, I hereby submit my application for Chief Engineer, Merrick Joseph Leopold Hoover.  You can call me MJ.  As evidenced from other things I've said about SH3, for all my technical knowhow I am utterly incompetent with submarines.  This is good characterization.

Submitting request for gunnery officer.

EDIT: Name him Heisenburg. He only knows where the enemy is, or their speed.

I guess I'll be the boatswain/Oberbootsmann. Or maybe the cook. Or maybe both. Oh, the fun we shall have...

Dietfried Bergfalk, reporting for duty. I'll be the guy who starts shoveling buckets out of the engine room as it floods and attaches sealants to the hull. I'm also the guy you see running in the background down a narrow hall when something important happens.

If you really want get a dartboard and place the different characters of Down Periscope on it and take a jab. Make me that role.

 Edit: PARTICULARLY Harland Williams character.

Just remember I asked for names at least. Don't just request positions.

Tell Eva I don't appreciate her indirectly causing me to be sodomized by a torpedo.

Considering the person, she'd probably say "you're welcome".

The point is that I've made my disapproval clear. It's not much of a point, but it's there, damn it.

You could almost say the point is infinitesimal.

Anyway, woo at sea.  A little tip about RPing military commands and the events they spawn - eventually we're going to get an order/situation that's not unusual.  You can only get unusual orders for so long before they cease to be strange.  Also, I have to buff out those dings, Newmann.

There's a reason WE got an unusual order. Don't worry it's gonna be business as usual soon enough. :P

Hrm. Does she plan on blowing the sh*t out of convoys later? Have fun being destroyed by destroyers escorting. Goddamn sonar and depth charges. It'll pass over you and drop depth charges like mad, yet it will be blind so you should be able to do some evasive maneuvers. Have fun blowing up the poles and the brits, I mostly hope the brits.

And those are some huge dings, I'll go force some of the motormen to help buff them out with the Chief Engineer, if it is alright hitting them with my radio.

I also believe those orders for us aren't unusual at all.

It's not your ass that got attached to a torpedo. Cry me a river and hand me some salve.
