Wait, how did you tame a giant cave spider?

Bought from the minotaurs. They have their ways.

They're PET_EXOTIC, anyway, so dwarves can tame them when King Furry arrives.

Dang; haven't played far enough into a game in 31.XX yet to meet one. I've been trying lots of modding and the like. Had one fort I was going to play for longer, but I keep getting crashes after loading a save for a while, so that one's out at least until 31.04. I've also started playing a game of experimental construction, that's only been going for a few days. Dwarves were modded to have NOEAT, NOSLEEP, SPEED:1, max attributes, etc, in a world where all the goblins died out early on. How long a job takes depends more on how long you leave the game unpaused for than the dwarves themselves.

I'm finding it harder and harder to resist the urge to do something like this on my current castle/tower fort.  I'm about halfway through year 7 and so far I've done the entire thing with vanilla settings, except around year 5 I turned off temperature and weather because my FPS was crawling.  Hopefully the merge will help with speed issues so I wont fall to the dark side...

Also, regarding the GCS: have you thought about using it to set up a silk farm later?  Creative use of chains, doors, a tamed GCS, and a captured goblin can yield a fast, infinite supply of silk.

Interesting! I'll definitely think about setting it up, as soon as we capture something it'll want to fight. :D

Welp, the game's crashing fairly consistently just before the end of Malachite (a few days after my current save). No idea what causes it, so it might be that we have to wait until the next bugfix and hope it solves the problem. I've uploaded the save, anyway, just in case anybody's curious.

Still having problems after .04?  This was one of the games I was most interested in reading!

I haven't actually tried using .04 yet; I'll give it a shot now and announce whether we're still on hold soon.

Nope, .04 hasn't fixed it (and having graphics on with the save file as is, it doesn't start, so I'll have to clean that up sometime). Let's hope .05 cures it, or if that takes too long, savescumming from early Spring.

I may have found out what the bug is (to do with melting objects) - if I'm right, play will continue in about a week! (I have exams).
Also, .05 will fix the problem, so melting will start up again then, too. :D

Edit: exams are over, but I still have a lot going on, so will update when I can <3

AAAAAAAAAND NECRO! You alive, Samthere?

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

Gorsh, this thing :D
Yeah, I'm meaning to play Fortress mode again but I doubt I'll be continuing with Whirlrelic, sorry. Anyone else want the save?
