>Knock on his door and ask him if there's anything you can od to make his time more enjoyable.
>Offer to show him the sights of your local area.
>Cook him a lavish dinner
>Ask him if there is any news from the institute
The next morning you knock on the door of the Inspector's room. You hear some scrambling and furniture being moved, then the Inspector appears at the door, fully dressed. You offer to show him around the local area. No, says he, I must be on my way. Are you sure I cannot prepare a meal for you, you ask; no, says he, I really must be going. Is there any news from the Institute, you ask; oh, yes, says he,
plenty.
...
Given the manner in which he said it you decide not to enquire as to what the news
is.
You walk him back to the village and very diabolically refrain from tripping him over, beating him with a tree branch, then hiding his corpse in the woods.
When you arrive in the village, the Inspector hops aboard the cart bound for the nearby town without a word of goodbye. Once the cart leaves view you shake your fist at it, but it does not make you feel much better.
At least now you can get back to Science again.
It is 29 days since you returned home. It is early afternoon.
