Whatever has to do with cosmic horrors, and discovering knowledge thereof.

Not much of an applicable science, mostly research based, but should combine quite well with the Etheric sciences I think.

So...

Physics? :p

I cast my vote for Steamworks, with a penchant for physical science.

But yeah, Steamworks + Ether = awesome.

Yes. Even if I still can't get that game to work on my computer...

Don't allow your fcope to become too, too narrow. Surely, maftering Ethericf, Alchemiftry, and other forcef mercurial and otherworldly carrief a certain myftique, but think of the long road ahead.

We muft not forget that we are a Man of Reafon, and have thufly maftered near every difcipline inaginable... we muft not forget that not all problemf can be folved ufing myftical meanf.

Steam Engineering would provide the neceffary mufcle to back our aetherical ftudief. Imagine, towering above the maffef below, piloting an Iron Titan, commanding forcef beyond the comprehenfion of other mortalf, or finding folitude in an invulnerable airfhip fortress!

I was gonna go with zoology for magically alterd beasts but seeing as steam is a majority i vote for steam.
(I have a feeling that this will fail horribly if it is anything like Arcanum, magic and technology don't mix people)

I'm curious about how we'd combine steamworks and magic, since steam as a power source can probably be replaced by magic; unless steam engineering brings with it knowledge of valves, etc etc, which we power with magicky magic instead of steam. If we can use magic as a physical power source (which I don't know that we can), how does steam technology complement this?

Edit: though I do like the idea of a huge, lumbering construct of metal and wood, with intricate and delicate gears and mechanisms built by hand through knowledge of engineering, but kept turning by applied ether.

It's a question about what we'd do with steam if we took it, and how it would work with what we've already chosen. If magic is a power source, then we could possibly take (generic) engineering instead of steam engineering to have a broader skillset and to avoid overlapping disciplines. I'm not committing to steam yet, but I want to hear about people's ideas regarding it.

I tool feel that steam would be made redundant with magic, hence I voted for mechanics.

I motioned for Steam Engineeringas a specific subfet of engineering which we could ply our energy toward. Unleff "Mechanical Engineering" if too broad a speciality, I suppofe we could simplify it to that.

Even so, the Steam Afthetic if one that would make our exploitf more notable than mere cogs and rivited iron plates, and openf up myriad poffibilitief.

Steamworks contains mechanics. Seriously, people. Why would you be a mechanic in these days and not work with steam power?

Steamworks it is!

You proceed to collect pipes and gears and suchlike from the plumbing and old farm machinery that litter your little estate. Fortunately the Institute was too lazy to disassemble your forge so you will be able to do stuff with them.

Now you must put away your two remaining reference books on...
