The title should be all you need to know:
http://www.remar.se/daniel/herocore.phpTrailer is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu_xdCHdSqgIt's a pretty simple distillation of metroidvania/shooter, with a very healthy dose of retro. Challenging and fun bosses, but it's very non-punishing (in normal, at least). Non-punishing as in "Oh, you blew up the generator and then you died? Well, it stays blown up, so good for you". I got 100% on the first mode in about an hour, plus there's hard difficulty (with enemies that behave differently, and
a totally new map) and ultimate difficulty (with yet another new sidestory map...and let's just say,
Iji fans will appreciate it). So even if you only have a couple hours left in your evening, go play!
(And if you haven't played
Iji, well.
Iji thread is here but you do not want spoilers, trust me. It's a totally different game, side shooter, in a vaguely "Out Of This World" art style.
Iji is pretty notable in that your character starts out as a freaked-out pacifist...and, uh, where she goes from there depends entirely on what your personal approach to people trying to kill you is. Have fun, tears will be shed. And
Iji has a glorious soundtrack. Did I mention I like
Iji? Keep
Iji stuff in the
Iji thread, but you should totally go play that. And this.)
PS: If anyone figures out how to do that circle attack at 0:49 in the trailer, or a similar one that fires in a quarter-circle left-to-top arc, post how you did it? I've done both a couple times and I can't for the life of me figure out how.
