Hmm... that kinda screws up the background I was planning for my cleric. Well, not a lot, but it still throws a wrench I will have to work around.

I never got my answer to if the gods were the same or different...

And what exactly are the civilization(s?) that hold Cagazan and Malebranche like?

EDIT: And do we know of any other cities/civilizations?

Arg.  Yesterday, just minutes before the D&D game I'm playing in started, I had answers typed up and ready to post.  My finger slipped and hit the "back" button on my mouse.  So I hope you can forgive me for the late start on answering your questions.  And, to keep my morale up, I'll be starting with the easiest questions to answer.

The Maptool download page is here.   You want to get maptool-1.3.b66.zip.
The Hamachi download page is here.  You want to get the unmanaged version.

Gods:  You can pick from any of the published gods or create your own.  I'll be using both published gods and some creations of my own.  It might become important that 4E doesn't allow spell casters a direct line with their god, so churches can't exactly ask if their doctrine is correct.

Races: There really isn't a universal culture for each race.  Just as humans in real life have a wide range of cultures, each race in my setting has a wide range of cultures.  Additionally, kingdoms of a single race don't exist.  If an area is prosperous enough for a kingdom to form, it's also prosperous enough to attract immigrants from other races.  Single race communities do exist, but they tend to be found in harsh, isolated areas.  If the area was nicer, they would get immigrants, and if the area was easier to get to they would've left for greener pastures.

Malebranche:  The rulers and administrators of Malebranche are almost completely concerned with internal politics.  Malebranche has huge numbers of portals located close to each other, and as a result Malebranche is part of many trade routes.  Malebranche has no resources of its own, and so it must feed its citizens and pay for its army with taxes on all trade passing through the city.  To encourage this trade, the soldiers of Malebranche investigate new portals and set up guarded outposts in most of the planes the city is connected to.  As a result, trade routes that pass through Malebranche are some of the safest.  Traders and travelers are safe in Malebranche, but the rulers are engaged in cloak and dagger conflicts with each other.

Yeah.  This is the time line I'd like to see happen.

This coming Thursday (May 13th) I'd like to host a Wushu game.  It's rules light, and it'll give us a chance to work out any software problems involved with connecting to the game.  It'll also give us a chance to have fun for a couple hours telling a ridiculous story.

I'd like everyone to finish their character sheets and have them submitted to me by Monday, May 17th.  I'll pick characters by Tuesday, and then the first D&D session will happen on Thursday, May 20th.

By pick characters, do you mean we should make multiples, or do you mean you'll pick from the different applicants as to who will play?

I'll pick from the different applicants.  I counted seven people who expressed interest, and if everyone submits a character I'll (probably) have to trim the number down to five or six.  I'm also looking into the possibility of getting an assistant, in which case I might pick one character from everyone.

Of course, if you want to submit multiple characters you certainly can.

Quick Question:
As a Cleric, can I gain proficiency with my deity's favored weapon(War Pick) without expending a feat? I know in 3.5 there was something like that, but the 4e rules don't mention anything like it.

Okay, I'm just going to assume that's a yes. If not, I'll have to change it later I guess, but I would rather get this up now.

I don't even think deities have favored weapons anymore. I think you'll have to spend a feat on it.

Really? Huh. The wiki said that the 4e version of Bahamut liked the War Pick.

Well, I guess I would drop Shield Proficiency then and lose 1 AC... not a huge loss.

I'm back from the (slightly) unexpected communications blackout that visiting family caused.  Anyway, for the next few weeks I'll be contactable on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  And I shouldn't completely drop off the radar on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays either.  To reduce future communications blackouts, I figure it's time to start up the Hamachi network.  So...

Yeah.  Clerics can no longer get weapon proficiencies based on their domain choice.  Your character background looks good though.  It fits into the setting, and it has some nice hooks available for future adventure ideas.

I've got a question. Basically, I don't have much access to 4e D and D materials, though I've tried 3.5 a couple times. I'm iffy on what the rogue's powers do. Could you give me a quick rundown of what they are and what they do exactly?
