FFFFFFFFFFFF-
Forum ate my reply. This is what I get for being hideously late.
Well, here we are. Honestly not sure which I'd rather play (though I'm more certain of the goblin mechanically), which I guess is convenient. I'd like to think two characters also justifies the extreme delay a bit, but really I know better.

Shivix grew up among the numerous goblin clans of a mountainous region. While still highly mobile by most standards, Shivix eschewed the flighty backstabbing so common amongst his kin in favor of a sturdier method of flanking and combat. As the armored core of their warband, Shivix soon proved himself effective against their most common foe- other goblins. Though his success in battle earned him the title of chieftain (which as usual was accomplished by being the strongest around), he began to become disillusioned with the constant, petty warfare, and eventually set out on his own to find something more meaningful than constant battle over patches of rock and handfuls of stolen goods.
Shivix is still a goblin, and so a bit on the cowardly side. This is balanced out by his confidence in his own abilities and his rather harsh life- not only is he the toughest thing he's ever met, he's under the impression that there will always be something trying to kill him and take his shoes. Additionally, he's well acquainted with the notion that the best way to win, and therefore live, is for him to disrupt and draw fire from enemies while his allies attack them unhindered, so his courage in battle is generally unquestionable.
Shivix is also a bit greedy, and tends to value shiny objects more than a normal human might. He's a surprisingly competent thief out of his armor, though he can't stand up to a professional and doesn't have much interest in petty crimes. He's seen where everyone trying to take everything leads.

Shargoth grew up among a savage tribe of dragonborn inhabiting a barren wasteland. They worshipped draconic spirits of destruction and strength, and held dragons as the epitome of ruthless, unstoppable predators. Shargoth fit in well, engaging in acts of courage and strength against the beasts of the harsh land, and eventually set off on his own to find ever greater challenges.
Shargoth is fairly charismatic and tends to have a pack mentality with those he sees as allies, so he tends to be friendly and helpful, but not coddling (by barbarian standards) to friends. He's a bit more suspicious of strangers, but isn't distrustful by nature and is generally friendly (at least verbally) with anyone who hasn't proven themselves deserving of different treatment. He's not particularly quick to offer assistance, however, as he considers it odd for someone not to deal, or indeed, not want to deal, with their own problems.
Shargoth enjoys leading and directing allies, but he prefers a more hands-on approach than standing behind them and shouting encouragement, and has no qualms about fighting alone when needed. He's also interested in facing powerful enemies simply for the challenge, and while he can be rather intelligent in planning actions or establishing goals, he disapproves of cowardly or dishonorable actions and doesn't have many goals beyond glorious battle.
