Hive Mind
« on: May 01, 2010, 02:42:59 pm »

I'm Bored and therefore invented this:

Hive Mind
The universe constantly changes. it lies in nature that nothing is constant. Everything strives to Chaos. But what happens if sapient beings manage to establish Order? The answer of nature to that is a Hive Mind. Everytime a Galaxy reaches the critical point where Civilizations have established a constant Order, Nature seeks change and sends a Hive Mind(or more if the frist try fails). You Young One are one of those Hive Minds. Your goal is simple: Eat and Grow and most importantly change!

With this voice in your mind, your falling through time and space, breaking reality, the 4th.wall and generally every law of physics towards your Base of Operations. As you approach the galaxy, your senses inform you of your possibilities:

Alpha Quadrant
350 Civilizations
10 Space-Faring Civilizations
30% Planet Colonization

Beta Quadrant
50 Civilizations
1 Space-Faring Civilization
80% Planet Colonization

Gamma Quadrant
3568 Civilizations
786 Space-Faring Civilizations
95% Planet Colonization

Delta Quadrant
250 Civilizations
0 Space-Faring Civilizations
1% Planet Colonization

You know you have to choose one of the 4 Quadrants of the Galaxy. Higher Population Density meaning more to consume and more mutation but alo a higher chance of extinction. Quadrants with no Space-Faring Civilizations are easy prey but you must develop other means of transportation between stars the travelling with captured ships. Many Civilizations mean longer times till your detection and till somebody organizes a truly dangerous attack but when those Civilizations join they develop much faster weapons against you...

EDIT: Are we each playing a separate hive mind? Not sure.

If we are playing separate hive minds, then Delta quadrant, if its a single hive mind, then Beta quadrant.

Gamma quadrant would be too much Fun. I'd rather go with Alpha Quadrant.

I'm going with alpha. Some difficulty, but not too much difficulty.

(Can we ally and such with other players?)

That's five for Alpha Quadrant. If we're not controlling the same Hive Mind, Alpha Quadrant is moderately overpopulated.

Nah, each of us gets 70 yummy civs, and 2 of them are bound to be a space fairing civ. Besides, the more of us the safer it is.

Beta's too tiny, Gamma's seriously dense, and and Delta is too huge and not enough people.

Maybe we should clear up whether we are each controlling a different hivemind or not. I think the OP said that its only one hivemind, but not sure.

Well if it's only one hivemind, then I say we go by who got here first.  8)
