...And it came to pass that the second god Dal saw the long table Keulane made; and Dal said “Was this made from one piece, whole, cut in a single stroke from the heart of the largest tree in the land?”
Unbowed (for he feared not the god Dal), Keulane speak “Yes, and with my own hand. Let this table replace the field of battle. Let the people reveal their hearts with true words and not sword thrusts. Let this wood, from the tree’s heart, be the heart of Shad, one world united forever.”
And Dal answered: “It shall be, Keulane. I shall give you dominion over Things and Creatures-Not-Man.”
And the god Dal gave his blessing, rendering the sword of Keulane, that cut the tree in a single stroke, as Strength with dominion over Things and Creatures-Not-Man. Keulane added this to his dominions over Heaven, given by the fourth god Koh; and over Land and Sea, given by the third god Adar. It remained for him to gain the blessing of the first god Iyan, God among Gods, and dominion over Man.
And so Keulane waited, for he felt it was his reward, but Iyan came not to him. At long last, Keulane cried out: “Have I not earned this?”
A bolt of blinding light and roaring thunder smote the sword
from Keulane’s hands, and he trembled at the voice of Iyan, God of Gods: “You are foolish, Keulane. No man can have dominion over Men. You can only guide them. We will not speak to you again in this life. We will never speak directly unto you again, but we will give you this.”
And the hand of Iyan placed the Crown of Shad upon Keulane’s head. It was of silver, and of crystals, a pair whose inner depths were murky and fogged to the eye and mind of man. Do you hear and see my voice?”
Keulane answered that he did, but he did not, for the eye and ears of his heart were closed by fear. Iyan knew, and he shook Keulane to his very soul. “Hear me!”
And lo, the crystals of the Crown became clear through, with the blue of Heaven as their shade. And Keulane felt his heart open, and he saw clearly, and heard. He knew the echoes of the past, and felt the tides of Time. And he knew the roads the People of Shad would take, if only he could lead them there.
“You have the Power of Times,” Iyan told him. “Thus shall you and your sons and daughters lead. Of the children you beget, only special ones in their time will have the Power. They will wear the Crown, the crystals will give them sight, and the People will hail them as Kings and Queens of the Covenant...
—Book of Shad,
Verse of Keulane
(Shad is Cril in this adaption.)
"Sounds like some fairy tales, I'm not sure I believe it."Faden said as she replaced the book on the library shelf.
"Actually it's not less credible than any other religion stories."Sxtan said. "I found it quite reminiscent to certain stories of Earth Bible, Ki'scri'caa Overseer, Hundgaar's Planet Mother or Sun of Denedani. Almost all religion shares a common point: They tend to mythologize the event that have given rise to them."
"You are right about my Home. Now I recall those stories." Batista said.
Faden shook her head."Does that mean you believe it? All of those has been, or mostly has been explained in a scientific way."
"So has the Crown and the Covenant. According to the record that I've studied, some research was done to the Crown before the civil war on Cril. The Power of Times is an ESP-like phenomenon activated by a certain type of brainwave that was present in the brain of certain members of royal family of Cril, and the crystal on the Crown is sensitive to such waves, the person possessing just the right brain wave would clear it. This effect has been duplicated in computer simulations. After all, the most likely explanation for the story was an intervention by a much more advanced alien race, even when compared to us."
"That doesn't explain that 'Voice in the head' fortune-telling thing..." Faden countered, still somewhat unconvinced.
"If you read the book more carefully, Lieutenant, you would know that the Power does not make you a prophet, but grant you a subtle feeling of the natural flow of time and space. Essentially a form of minor telepathy."
The discussion has gone long enough, and there was more pressing matter to do. "The problem is not whether we believe in Crilite religion or not, it's the Crilite people that take it seriously. The monarch of Cril is more than a political leader, whoever sits on that throne is also their religion leader. And the Crilites won't accept someone who don't worn the Crown and have the Power as their leader."
"Captain, since she designed the irrigation system at a young age, she is clearly a smart young woman, perhaps we just need to help her feel confident in her abilities? There are plenty of historical records of disabled people doing great things, so if she can but find the strength...."Sxtan continued. "Let short of the fact tha she isn't actually disabled, There's no reason to think she doesn't have the Power. And Ensign Para said that he intercepted an encrypted message heading towards Tyrillian space, so we had better get moving."
"I know, Lieutenant."Batista responded. "So we'd better pack up now."
5 minute later...
"And by the way."Sxtan, suddently remembering something as he is packing up, asked Faden."Do you need our assistance on synthesizing Holulin?"
"Our medical replicator have that programmed, shouldn't be problem now...but a bit of assistance might be needed if that fails, thanks."Faden responded, then they continued on their jobs.
On the frail shoulder of a frightened girl, now rested the fate of an entire planet and a sizable portion of Confederation space. If she failed, then that's it.
------
There was none royal suite aboard
Swiftwing, and to Faden's professional judgement, the King should be placed in the Medibay for the duration of the journey under constant attention of Faden and her medical staff. Batista effected a compromise though---A medical biobed was setup in the largest crew quarter on the ship, giving the King comfort and privacy, while giving Faden the medical information she requested to be monitoring.
Faden knows the odd of King Lorin surviving the travel to Planet Cril, but she was going to try her best on this.
After all the packing and preparation is complete, Batista headed for the bridge.
"Captain, the course to Sigma 756 is complete, ETA is 3 weeks on factor six."Nimitz reported as Batista entered the Bridge.
"Okay Ensign. Announce the departure to our crew, and get us under way."Batista ordered.
"Aye sir."
Batista thought about the plan again as Nimitz switched to intercom and announced the departure to the crew. Something is not exactly right.
"Belay that order, maintain standard orbit and call an immediate conference in the conference room for all department heads, and fast."
"What..." Definitely taken off-guard by this sudden change, Nimitz responded. "...Yes sir."
------
"Captain, what happened?"Nirur Torir asked as he entered the conference room and sitted down.
"I summoned you here to discuss what we should do next step. We may have to modify the plan."Batista continued as he gathered himself. "As all we know, Tyrilian probably already knows that we have King and Princess of Cril on board, they would expected us to lead them to the planet on which the Crown was hidden. And it's a foolhardy thing to do if we just do that."
"What's your plan, Captain?"Para asked.
"Well...So we need a bigger decoy. My plan is to send a shuttle after several days of traveling, which is very difficult to detect in deep space, outside of any Tyrilian ship's sensor range. Then Swiftwing will lead those Tyrilians into a circular, uh, so-called 'Wild goose charse', while the shuttle party travels to Sigma 756 and retrieve the Crown. The Swiftwing shall rendzvous with the shuttle at the orbit Sigma 756 after the retrieval, then speed back to Cril. Any suggestions? Or will we just go to Sigma 756 directly?"
"Who will join the shuttle party then? Our shuttle can only take 4 people."Nirur asked.
"Well...Princess Cila is surely in, as she is the only one who knows the plan to the detail and to actually retrieve the crown. And Faden is in for sure because of Cila's medical condition. Nimitz is also in since he is the best pilot we've got aboard."
"And the fourth?"Sxtan asked.
"It's left to be decided. But the best choice would be you or Flintus. Your problem with cold temperature can be solved with additional equipment, we need some more security in our shuttle party which both you and Flintus can provide. Any more suggestions or other ways to solve this?"[The original story used shuttle to retrieve the crown(This would have been a plot hole if I have written this down directly), not using the shuttle is also possible with a bit of twist in story.]

Other Actions [5]Flintus and his team kept watch outside as the away team packed up to leave, and did their job well.(+2 dep.cmd)
There was no time for pep-talk though, as he was immediately called to conference room after beaming up, he and his security team was the last of the crew to leave the planet.
Scared by the prospect of being captured by Tyrilians, Nirur decided to arm himself, and successfully obtained his weapon from security.(+1 Persuading)
[10-1(Sensor Use)]Para did a very good job on his station monitoring the space around the station though, and intercepted another message from the ground to Tyrilian Empire, no Tyrilian ship was detected though.(+2 Sensor Use)
After beaming up from the surface, Faden prepared the crew quarter for the King and his daughter. [7]And was quite successful. (+1 dep.cmd +1 Alien Medicine)
