How do i dig down?

Ive modded a shovel into the game and im trying to use it to dig but it doesnt seem to work in adventurer mode!Im trying to get into caves by diging so i can get away from all the bronze callosssues named INCESTSKANK!(haha!)My dwarf picks it up but he doesnt want to use it to dig!How to i command him to do this?

EDIT: i meant someone else had a broonze ckalaolosus named INcestskan, not me.

You can't. You'll have to wait until the skills arc to dig in adventure mode.
