Who would win?
« on: May 01, 2010, 07:16:45 am »

On team one you have:
'Captain' Datannazush Imkethanur Likot, or Captain Ironblood from Nist Akath. He wields Nazushsholid Nurallibash Gast, Bloodcluteched the Blind Axe of Cleaving. And a cabinet.

Âsax the caveswallowman who defeated one forgotten beast and fought off two others simultaneously, with a fungi spear and shield.

Cacame Awemedinade the Immortal Onslaught, the name speaks for itself.

Morul Cattenmat With legendary in every skill.

Tholtig Cryptbrain the Waning Diamonds (Tholtig Momuzidek Lelumdoren) With a kill list of over 2000.

Sankis the Beardless. The emperor of Boatmurdered who slayed other dwarves in a berserk frenzy while he himself was on fire.

From Headshoots: Holistic Detective and Nemo, the unstoppable force and immoveable object.

Oh, and Bronzemurders finest sons.

On team two you have:
The probably and practically infinite demons of hell.

On team three you have these guys.

Now, how do you think this battle would progress?

Edit: Added more to team one.

I think it'd be a draw. The demons are too afraid of the five dwarven heroes to leave hell and the five dwarven heroes can't be arsed to move down there and pull them out.

Holy schist, this thread is mica me sick.
DF Players never truly leave.  They just abandon the fortress for a few years and then reclaim.

oh wait... I misread that first post and thought it was a free for all...
Taking into account that everyone except the elf and the demons will die of old age then the infinite number of demons will win in the long run...

Unless the pits get so clogged with the dead that they're trapped in the underworld...

Are you kidding? They don't call him "the Immortal Onslaught" for nothing.

I haven't checked since I'm not doing bugs until after the release (well, I'm doing bugs, in the additive sense).

Each demon, as a historical figure adds to an array when it is created, and that array has a finite amount of memory it can access. Eventually, when enough demons have been killed, the attempt to create a new one will cause an error when the game tries to assign a class instance to a nonexistent array index. This error will likely crash the game. In essence, the conflict will end with the destruction of the universe.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.

To be honest, aside from Asax who benefited from combat glitches, I don't see any of Team Toady dying.

Now, replace the demons with the rest of Nist Akath's military and have them go at it and there's a battle. They were all individually much stronger (although obviously less badass) than Ironblood.

Well, its a case of description equals badass.

Like, if you take the way they are described in their stories, and not in the actual gameplay, would their awesomeness prevail?

I'm going to sound like a bit of a newbie here, but how exactly did Captain Ironblood get to be such a legendary badass when searching both the Wiki and the forums for his name draw a blank?

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.
