Goods not showing up in trade depot screen?
« on: April 30, 2010, 06:11:34 am »

There's a severe lack of goods in my trade depot screen, the one where you assign stuff to be brought there.   Now I know that I have a TON of tradeable goods one z-level up, and none of it is forbidden, marked for dump, or any of that.  They're accessible as well.  They are in bins, however, but I've always been able to trade bins before.  So what gives?

Bit of a long shot as it sounds like you have most things covered: have you hit 's' and it's filtering items, or toggled any of the other trade depot items?

Also, have you changed any of the orders menu that *might* affect pathing to the depot/what the dwarves move/etc?

Could it be mugs?

Mugs  donīt show up in the rade screen,
you have to manually select them.

Another possibility would be,
that a noble (for example your mayor) forbade the trade with said trade goods
(or the material  they are made of).
If they are in bins only one of  the trade goods in the bin has to fall under such export restrictions,
to result in the whole bin not being visible in the trade screen.
(there is an option to switch the invisibility of these restricted items off, however)

This is the problem.  He forbade the trade of bins, and of course everything is in bins.  So the question now is if I bring bins to the depot, but don't trade them, will my dwarves still get punished?

Select the items individually for trade and you'll be fine.

Ok so how do I mark things individually?  I toggled it to ignore the mandates, opened the bins through 'v'iew good, and tried to trade individual items through that menu but it doesn't allow that to be done.

Bring the bins to the depot - export bans only care if you actually sell the stuff.

Once you're in the trade screen, manually select each item inside the bins rather than selecting the bins themselves. Arguably, you should be doing this anyways, since otherwise you're selling perfectly good bins that you could otherwise reuse.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
