And that whilst constantly making jokes of me being hit by one.

I did almost get hit by a bus once, but that's something different.

News flash, everything is corruptible.

Perverting popular wisdom is the best means of a successful subversion. Have you ever read the Dune series of novels?

In that story the doctor had been subjected to 'Imperial Conditioning' which was considered a foolproof method of mind alteration which assured absolute loyalty.

End result?

They took his wife and threatened to kill her. In the end, he betrayed his duke and got himself and the duke killed.

Yes, I knew it was unlikely. Basically a "Leap of faith" situation, and apart from one gift she had little reason to trust me. The only real way it could work was if she considered serving you a fate worse than death.
