The examine on "Urist's Talisman", which you steal during the course of the quest, is "A gem in a gold setting.  All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality".  I'd say that's pretty convincing evidence for an intentional reference (along with his name, the guard mentioning he comes from a fortress and loves work and booze, etc).

Nah come to Australia. We can have the convention in a forest and put up fake elf corpses in the trees and have archery ranges with elves at the end. So manyyyy ideas
