The militaristic KILLBOTICS. Something about tanks has always sent a little shiver of excitement down your spine, and one that can go out on its own and... "discourage" the competition while you sit safely in your lab concentrating on your REAL work, now THAT is a something any scientist would drool at. So you've dedicated a large portion of your time and effort to reviewing the work of killbotics throughout history, and optmizing a few designs. You've also got a couple great ideas if you could find the pieces!
The device you stand in front of is a machine that combines the latest 3D modeling software with a precision tooling device, that works as both a machining and milling center. By taking up half the table, you meant the parts of it that hang over the table take up half of it - the device itself takes up a large chunk of the room. Here, you'll be able to turn scrap metal and loose sheets into the size and shape you need for your projects in record time. Blocks of metal become joints and gears and the various other components your robot will surely need. The machine itself was broken when you got it, and the software flawed - it was the only reason you could even hope to afford such a wonder. But being the genius you are, you had it up and running better than ever in no time at all.
It was still expensive, and drained your savings dry, but you are sure it will be worth it. And if the price you have to pay is having to stay in cousin Caroline's basement while you get back on your feet, why, you'll pay it gladly. It helps that Caroline is spending the summer in Africa, of course - you doubt she'd approve of Killbots. She'll be gone for at least
three months, so you have that long to get things together and find a new lab, or at least a place to stash your inventions if you are still here.
Speaking of which, you notice you still have an usorted pile of mail on the counter. Anything not addressed to you is probably for one of Caroline's many aquintances that she allows to use her house as a mailing address. What a freak. Anyways, anything not addressed to you can be dumped in the nearby slot, but you'll probably want to take out your own mail.
