4 seconds  after embark BAM ever ones dead..... yea play now embarked me with 15 fire snakes as food that set the world on fire yea ( play now)  is really dwarven for (DIE FAST BY FIRE)

I'm now playing the 2nd year of a "Play Now"! option. In fact, it's working out quite well - it only started me with 1 miner, which was a bit of a slower start than I'm used to, but a second one turned up soon thereafter. I have a decent set of skills, and although things are progressing markedly different to how I usually run a fortress, it's showing all the signs of a good, healthy fort. The limitations set by a random group of skills which I myself might not have chosen have forced me to play in a slightly different style, which I have found to be refreshing and engaging. So I say give it a go, and if you blow up in the first few seconds of your game, what has it cost you?

My most recent fort is a "Play Now!" fort as well, the dorfs started with reasonably good stats, yes only one miner, but 2 picks so I can assign the other stone worker to be a miner as well.

I like play now since I can't forget to bring any essentials that way. I'm willing to risk a tiny chance at insta-death, especially since preparing carefully doesn't keep you from embarking in the center of an area that is caving in, or too close to a leaky volcano, or arriving already INSIDE a dragon's belly.
