Choices of the Kobold
« on: April 25, 2010, 02:44:56 pm »

Over in the "Choices of" Games thread I mentioned that I was playing around with the scripting to make a Choices of the Kobold adventure. Well, the intro is finished. Or, the intro works.

http://therubberduck.net/kobold/

I've opened a new thread, because I'd like feedback. Both because I don't have time to test every iteration possible, so there might be some bugs in there, and from a purely stylistic POV. Is it fun?

Game crashed when I pet the centipede. :(

Otherwise, it is pretty neat.

I ended up with 115/100 stabby. Don't think that should happen (consider using the ChoiceScript "fair math" functions). :P

Second playthrough keeps throwing exceptions during the test of blood (when selecting to drink any of the given drinks). End up with a page ending mid-sentence.

Also, typo - centiped should be centipede, I think.

And now it's kind of coming apart and just threw an exception at me at first choice. :O

because of a nonexistant variable "brain". Got the bug to reproduce as well. Wait... is your game trying to tell me something?  :(

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Tried it, it COULD use a bit more flavor text, but you should definatly keep going.

I think I've solved all the mentioned bugs, except for the ultrastabiness. I actually knew about the ultrastabiness, but just hadn't bothered to do anything about it.

Edit: And the ultrastabiness has been fixed.

It doesn't seem to reset the stats or inventory upon restart.

Also, stats and inventory only reset if you reach the end, but NOT if you hit the Start Over function.

Hmm.  Made a brainbold, and completed my trials without doing the fire one.
Centipede first, sat still, blood, drank the bear, and I was done.
