Yesterday, I watched a Star Trek Voyager episode that dealt mainly with time travel, and the implications of altering time.

I propose that if Hitler was removed from the past, then communitst Russia would have completed their moon missions earlier and destroyed America with moon-launched nuclear missiles.  :P

Being an entropy cultist, I believe someone even worse would come into power if we killed Hitler.
Like Stalin taking over Europe.

Every attempt on Hitler failed because clearly space Nazi's have a Pro-Hitler time travelling squad.  We need to up our game.

He had a better mustache, though.

I'm amazed that only cowofdoom can see the obvious solution.  Assuming that we already have a foolproof time-machine to kill Hitler with, whoever replaces him as the most famous murderous tyrant in history can just be offed too.  With the time machine, we will ex post facto assassinate our way to ever lasting world peace!

I've always preferred the linear timestream thing. Which basically implies that every attempt, past, present, or future, to assassinate Hitler has already failed.

Noooo!

I'm probably one of the few people who thinks traveling back in time to kill Hitler is a really fuckin' bad idea.

Traveling back in time to kill anyone is probably a bad idea.  I'm curious though how the world would be if someone traveled back in time and convinced the British that creating the nation of Israel as a knee jerk response to the horror of the holocaust was bound to have serious negative repercussions.

So we're just assuming that doing this wouldn't cause a paradox?

World peace is highly over-rated.

I suppose I started a derail, but I much prefer this thread where it is right now.

Of course you have Godwin's Second Law: Whenever Godwin's first law is invoked in a discussion, it will be inevitably referenced by name at some point later in that discussion.
