Hey guys, I've noticed that you guys seem to use Lego Digital Designer quite a bit.
Let this thread be a gallery for your creations.

I've seen this but never knew what it was called. Time to go build *giddy laugh*

Reposting this from the HAPPY thread, for completeness.

Spoiler: Toady Tower (click to show/hide)

So named because I designed it in exactly two hours, while listening to the last Toadycast DFTalk.  Rrramble!

Reposting from the Bloodfist megaproject:

I gotta say, it worked well as a preview of what I was dealing with. I need to get around to tinkering with them again, both IRL and LDD. I got a box of them for Christmas and have yet to build something nifty. I think I still have some old models I made from an old Mindstorms kit (some of them not powered); they looked pretty cool. I gotta remake them in LDD, but if I take some time I might find the ones that are still intact and post pics of them.

Simple descriptions of some vehicles (all made with the 1 Mindstorms kit overall; plenty for a limited set.):
-A dragster with full-moon (blade) skates as the rear wheels (supposedly good for driving across icy land?)
-A crusher-like vehicle with a series of sawblades as the front wheel and 2 inward wheels in the back for maneuverability (pretty crappy while at it), and has an exposed engine system
-A 3-wheeled wagon with a frontside crusher
-A 4-wheeled (powered) behemoth made to run things over.

These are roofs for a walkway.
Which one looks best, in you guys' opinions?

I like the far right one just for looks, but what is it a walkway on?

Modular airtight space colony.
I've got the endcaps and walkways done.
Currently doing junctions, airlocks, and roofs.
Next is probably going to be an actual structure, probably just a small building.

Neat-o torpedo

By the way, is there anyway to change the point the camera orbits around? It makes creating big things rather annoying.

Only by right-clicking on another piece.  It's sort of possible to orbit an arbitrary point, but you have to dick with the unfriendly camera way more than it's worth.  Just pick another piece to center on.

I love LDD. Must've spent more time playing around on that than doing any work the entire time i was at uni. I'll upload some of the screenshots I've got lying around.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I made the miniscale fighter first, then build the docking bay around it, then decided to make a minifig scale version. Not too happy with the colours on the big version though. I keep meaning to mess around with it but get distracted with making something new.

Me and a friend had a project going where we tried to build a full minifig scale space ship. We'd each ork on seperate modules, and then send them too each other and see how they matched up. It actually worked fairly decently since we were using the standard airlock things that everyone on mocpages uses for their space stuff. It was really fun, though we never had any intention of finishing it because it would've taken us forever. :P

Also ein, I agree with piecewise, go for the one on the right.

When maneuvering around LDD I usually have some bricks strewn about at key points to serve as placeholders and POV points if I need a really good angle to get something where I need it. At other times, especially if interior work, I try to see if I can displace an entire section and reunite it seamlessly.

Having additional points here and there do help, just be sure to recognize them.

The most recent version has a hide button that lets you hide any bricks from view, and makes them unclickable untill you unhide them. Works really great for doing interiors without having to remove entire roof sections and whatnot. It's great the way they keep updating this thing (though I never understand why they remove pieces from the selection). :D

what they need to do is have a way to "Mirror" over a center line so you don't have to do everything twice. Its a neat program regardless though. Imma make me a big spaceship and run around holding my computer screaming "PEW PEW PEW" at bystanders.
