Some advice on setting up magma forges/furnaces
« on: April 24, 2010, 01:13:50 pm »

So I have this fort which I really like:

I want to set up my metal industry.
Before I always made my forges/furnaces right next to the sorce.
But as it is now my magma source is many levels below my fortress, so I'd like to try out a pump stack.
Could anyone tell me where I should set it up?

Well in theory you could set it up anywhere you wanted.  Though in my limited experience with pump stacks I would say make the pump stack over a source of magma, then dig the channel from the last level to where ever you want to have your workshops set-up.

By the way I like how you put some bedrooms over the water, I never thought about doing that to this point.

Well, I guess I have to simply try it out then.

Oh that are no bedrooms, but my hospital.
