Sleeping Beardies
« on: April 23, 2010, 06:26:18 pm »

Just had a strange problem... All of my Dorfs fell asleep and then remained asleep for more than a season, until they all died of thirst!

This was the FIRST spring after I embarked. Basically, the first time my dorfs fell asleep, they never woke up! I tried searching, but this doesn't seem to be a known issue, anyone got any input?

Sounds like a bug! Have you tried searching the bug tracker?

If you start a new fortress, does it happen again?

Not using any mods. I'll look into the whole bugtracker thing, I  haven't searched it. I've reclaimed the fort to see if I can replicate it.

Weird though, innit?

Hmm I've had a dwarf die of thing i thought it was a feature because he had an untreated upper body wound

Hmm whats that smell... Oh hi Urist still taking that nap, its been 5 months I can only manage to sleep 3 days. You might want to get that Axe wound checked out though; you are in the Hospital.

Goblins have advanced to biochemical warfare.  You are doomed.

...It's the Pax, the chloropaxtrate, that we put in their booze. We thought it would stop them partying. Well it worked... Only now they won't mine or smooth or craft. They just lie there, dehydrating on top of barrels of booze...

You didn't download .40a or something like that did you? There was a bug like this in an early release last version, or maybe one of the versions before that.

It's version 0.31.03

I reclaimed the fortress and it happened again. I have made a few changes - I turned off Invasions, changed the Autosave to yearly, turned off Artifacts, set the Coffin No Pets to yes and that's about it.

Can't think of anything that would cause excessive sleeping...

Maybe they were just shagged out after a long squat?

Speaking of which, how is fire in the new version?
out of personal experience, where a dwarf was set alight by a magmaman, ran up 150 flights of stairs, and divebombed into the booze stockpile, I'd have to say fire is the same as always.

Can't, I'm afraid, as the fortresses were tested to crumbling point.

I've made a change or two, I'll try again. Something must be weird, nobody else is having problems.

When they were in their beds, did you check to see if they were wounded in any way? It could be that a mild version of the 'melting rain' bug is injuring them so they go to rest and no one is able to bring them food and water?
