A precaution I built into the staircase, A nearby lever drops a huge f**king block onto the staircase blocking it off and utterly obliterating anything that happens to be underneath. I refer to it in euphemism

THIS JUST IN: We have our first tantrum. The unconscious wrestler in the hospital is thrashing around in his sleep.

EDITAGAIN: Matuin has just become an Elite Wrestler. I drafted him to kill the demons we have in the fort now. Our military is basically gone.

Matuin bled out while being double-teamed by a Chicken Fiend and a named Red Phantom. You managed to severely wound the chicken fiend, and it seems to be in danger of bleeding out. A fitting end, as it scored the kill.

I have disbanded the two current military squads and reformed them using dwarves who are actually alive. All the named dwarves are in squad "The Gloved Pages." We are attacking the unnamed Red Phantom in the housing area first. The remaining demons are all heavily wounded.

Also, a pair of chicken fiends have managed to break all the doors holding back the lava from flooding the underworld. They'll be coming from the magma pipe soon.

And 123Big died a while ago, at the beginning of this current incursion.

EDIT: Robocorn and Quatch are dead. The demons have reached the cages. Crundles are beginning to escape. I'm not sure if they're going to attack the demons or our dwarves.

I've walled in the moody metalcrafter, so we'll have a survivor when everyone else dies. Not the metacrafter (his insanity is a foregone conclusion) but rather the "surgeon" who walled himself into the forge.

Population is 16 and falling. Neither of the potential survivors has any relationships other than passing acquaintances.

All named dwarves are dead. Three chicken fiends are just sitting in the ex-dining area causing dwarves to sit in the hallways spamming "cancels eat/drink: interrupted by chicken fiend."

Current demon population:

3 snow haunts (slaughtering elk birds in the caverns)
4 chicken fiends (3 named, all sitting in the fort)
3 phantoms of snow (also slaughtering elk birds)
3 devils of flame (roaming the caverns)
Clawwebs the Mist of Oozes, Snow Devil (the turkey kind)(sitting in one of the kitchens)

It's a masterpiece of discord. And there is a lot of gold here. Stonesense isn't showing the chaos and insanity because it only shows living units.

I just realized that the chicken fiends completely ignored the one door that could have flooded the fort with magma.

The forgotten beast Quothest has come! A huge pterosaur with external ribs. It has two narrow tails and it appears to be emaciated. Its gray scales are round and overlapping. Beware its deadly dust!

I wonder if it will attack the demons.

I wonder if it will attack the demons.

The devils of flame might pick a fight with it and cause them to come into conflict, but flame isn't exactly super vulnerable and deadly dust is one of the weakest breath powers, I could easily see the demons kill it.

Does this mean that Oglokoog is next? This stuff's getting awesome.

I forgot to mention, the survivors are currently duking it out. The metalcrafter berserked, the mason tantrummed because he's starving and dehydrated, and I activated the mason to get him to fight the metalcrafter.

The mason is winning, by the way.

Also I removed all the stockpiles because the dwarves were suicide-rushing into the demons.

Final Thoughts

This was great, I always thought this is what a succession game should be. I've let absolutely everyone of importance die, I'm trapped with no less than four unearthly killing machines, half the population are children, and to top it all off, I won for the day. I lived and now the insanity belongs to someone else.
