any preferences?

Yeah, and to whoever is up next, i wanna be dwarfed as a military dwarf, they tend to get more engravings :P

Seriously, I don't have this much trouble in most forts.

Well, cleaning up replacing the mess the previous rulers made with your own is what makes succsession games fun (and Fun).

HeyGuys: Unconcious, yellow lower body. Starving, thirsty (just appeared). Doctor Deduk is tending.

okay that makes sense and must be the cause. gotta be awake to eat. In short obviously doomed to die.

I'll add the new guy to the list for a turn.

Ah, you make a good point :) Maybe I can arrange a wakeup.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying myself thoroughly, just ashamed at the injury of my peers :)

Does any of the free dwarves like cows for their haunting moos? If yes, I'll take him/her.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

okay that makes sense and must be the cause.
Assuming that you lay on a hospital bed, you will be unconcious (i.e. sleeping) until you get up from it. I dont think it can impair food/water giving, it didnt in 40d anyway.

Then I suppose I'll deal with the magma. I mean, its just a few caverns that will fill up with magma, whats the loss? It'll serve Robocorn right if his precious carapaces burn up.
Wait Quatch? are you in character or do you not know about the Adamantine???
 as long as you're free of the collapse spam I'm happy anyway. :)

2nd Slate: Asmel, a legendary fighter in Kogan's barricaded squad has turned up a gremlin! Its just in the main foyer to the caves, and I don't expect it to get far. Maybe all of the magma is driving these things up into our fortress?

I have some plans to help Heyguys wake up long enough to eat.

Curses. The gremlin proved too fast, and made its way back into the caves. I'll post a watch.

Heyguys is up! And running for the well. I hope he gets a bite to eat along the way..

Interesting. It seems that Kogan is our manager. This would explain why no jobs are managed--he's too busy running our burgeoning military. I've reassigned the duties to Timferius. I think a little paperwork will settle him down nicely. Besides, I like the colour purple.

Iton Avuziklist (Minedwhisper) has pronouced himself The "Og", which I believe means lover-of-cows. He's married to Deduk Limulshin, a butcher, and has one son. Noone else knows much about him.

Treatment on the other wounded progresses well.

I also hope to have melbil buried shortly. I've had a small tomb excavated behind the bedrooms, near where I am having my personal chambers dug. Did I mention my personal chambers? its a 4 level ziggurat, indoors ofcourse, with a little tomb in the centre. I'll put all sorts of copper furnishings around it. Very pleasant. And very far away from the magma in the basement.

Hrm, the barracks setup was confusing. 4 barracks were in the same room. I expect this has been giving headaches to those military types, but I've set it right.

Melbil still isn't buried, turns out there was a backlog. Oops.

And fixed. There we go. Now only half a torso remains in the hallway. But who can blame the haulers? The plumphelmets are up, and with them BOOOOOZE.

20th slate: *sigh*. Maybe I should do something about the magma. Afterall there is a lot of water down there. I'm sure we can work something out.

~~~~~~~
Ok Og, you're in. I'll rename you properly after dinner sometime. People are fed, and healing well. I've got plans for the magma.. I can't stop it's advance, but perhaps I can shut it off and let someone else pump it out.
I'll see if I can wrap this turn up tonight.
BTW, Timferius, turns out, we have a special connection.
24th slate: You know, I don't think I understand mining anymore. Dwarves are just falling over themselves to fall down pits. Oglokoog dug under himself and Tekkud, a fishery worker, severely wounding both of them. If these guys can't dig out my bedroom, how can I expect them to dig out the complex system I have designed to deal with the magma? It's much less forgiving.
Tekkud succumbed to his injuries moments later. He will be missed, as we would miss any of the 20 so or new migrants that fish.
26th slate: Atir Datanrith, dyer, has, well, died. Mining accident.
There is a giant bat in the farms. I can't imagine how it got there. Oh wait.. Must have flew up the staircase from the last attempt at sealing the basement issue. Guess I'll call in the troops. Last I saw them, they were charging for the basement stairs screaming something about troglodytes.
Ducim Logemducim, a dog, has dealt with our bat issue. I've ordered the breach sealed with a door.
I've appointed a few new miners.. Noone I care about, job seems cursed.
Tosid Uzolidath, the swordsdwarf that slew the troglodyte (they brought the body up to show his masterful work) has taken the honorific 123BIG. Apparently it was quite the cut.
1st Hematite [Summer]: I think I have a lot more respect for Robocorn now. Somehow he managed to get everyone through a whole year. I've already lost dwarves in the first season of my reign. Umm, first season of my leadership. Right. Anyhow, it just won't do. At least they are fed and properly boozed. … Basement. Magma. *sigh*
4th hematite: Sodel Lukuzol, a miner (uninjured), has withdrawn from society.
15 Hematite: He's made a coffer! I guess it is a good omen that it wasn't a coffin. I shall install it in the dining room, for the benefit of all.
Zon Imazmedtob, The boozemaster, has been elected mayor, and promptly demanded 3 bronze items. i've heard strange tales of things turning to gold, and nobles being upset, so I'll see about making some bronze bars for the lass.
I've breached a new segment of the lower caves, making access for water. The magma flow seems to have equilibrated, and that's just messy [[mostly on my FPS..]]
~~~~~~~
I've patched some FPS issues, so should finish tonight.

Yeah, especially considering I haven't had more than 30 booze on hand all year. They must all be dreaming of it, and a certain brewers promises of bringing all you can drink has swayed the votes.

~~~~
19th Malachite: Rith Atulmonom has been severely mauled by a crundle. The military did deal with it though.
I've had to stop the automatic dispatch of dwarves to collect webs. Turns out they are trying to walk across the magma.
I've reports of a baby gone insane. Og's child. Can't seem to make any sense of it. He doesn't LOOK insane.
18th Galena: Timferius is now purple. Excellent. I love purple.
26th Galena: Activated the lowest pump. It'll be days before the upper pumps are constructed, and who knows if it'll even work. Beards crossed!
I should also note that Matuin and Heyguys are healed fully now.
uhoh. Someone has just gotten tangled in dense webs down on level 3. Concerning. I'm not sure how our military can deal with this news.
13th Limestone. Likot Kinkib a bone carver has been possessed. Not sure this is going to end well. Yep. He needs leather. We'll see what we can do.
10th sandstone. no luck on the water application.
21st sandstone. no luck with the possession demands yet. I've got leather, but his list is just too long. Fishers are hard at work on the shells…
We're also under a druninan (I don't know either), raid. Piles of them.
1st Timber: Likot went mad. I am beginning to become depressed. Building robocorn a nice bedroom as a thank you for not killing anyone.
Timber is a good month. Two births so far. No deaths. The basement issue continues though. Turns out there are trees under the water, restricting refill.
A caravan has arrived! Magnificent! Now I need to remember where the door to the outside is. All this ice and whatnot I recall, but the doorway? Not a clue.
1st Moonstone, Winter. Trading has gone well. I've got us some much needed barrels and wood, and a pile of leather. I think our military will be basically outfitted at this point. We still need al of the accessory armour, greaves, gauntlets, whatnot, but the basics we shall have.
15th moonstone. Likod just died, and with that Mosus Onulthimshur, a metalcrafter was possessed. Will this spirit not leave us alone? Damn! He took over my magma forge, and stole the copper bar I was forging into a bedside table! How very rude. At least he immediately began the construction. A shame mosus will remember nothing of this.
I have requested a few odds and ends that we are short on, and plaster, as I have found nothing suitable for its manufacture, and the doctor demands it! In return, it is requested that we make Cheese, splints, anvils, cloth, crutches, and seeds with high priority.
It doesn't look like there is any turtle or fish to be had in the lowest cavern. I've restarted the pumps again. Beards crossed! The volume of water is much greater this time.
Ooh, a copper goblet. Well done!
I've capped it! Magnificent! 24th Moonstone! I've cancelled all jobs so we can celebrate. I'll mint some copper coins to commemorate the occasion.
I've also appointed Heyguys to be captain of the guard.
Oh yes. I also retrieved a little adamantine. Just a little edge. Can't possibly do any harm. Now.. what to make of it.
Oglokoog, your son is now one year old (12th obsidian). Congratulations. Now he is old enough to have that bruised leg looked at.
And that about wraps up what I can deal with. Time to retire to my bedroom and think over what I've done. My deepest condolences to the families of the miners who lost their lives this year. My most heartfelt congratulations to Heyguys and Robocorn for an amazing job in years past.
Notes for my successor:
1) There is a huge pile of caged cave critters. I didn't have time to deal with them.
2) Military armour needs an upgrade. Currently it is copper, and extremity armour is needed.
3) Need wood for more (lots more) barrels to secure booze production pipelines.
4) Many people still need bedrooms, and I expect we'll get another huge wave. More trade goods will need to be produced.
5) Don't kill miners, they die easy.
6) An upgrade to the hospital is probably in order.
7) Organizing the workshops is probably in order. I didn't get around to it, but I did get some space dug out below.
~~~~~~
Military: To my understanding, leaving them not group training (set up correctly now) ensures the fewest bugs. If you set them with the squad move/kill orders, remember to cancel it when they are done, otherwise they will starve in the line of duty. Response time is very fast.

Save here: http://www.fes.uwaterloo.ca/u/akasurak/region1-Goldanguishes1054spr.zip. I'll upload the full game save as goldanguishes1054.zip too if that is needed. (upload will be up in a few minutes.)

Sign me up for another turn, if we're allowing such. :)

Hopefully everyones FPS should be better now the magma is evaporating.

Did you mean to say coffin the second time?
this seems a bit confusing

also congrats on the legendary item does it menace with spikes of anything?
it's at least useful as opposed to the other one we had ::)

Yes. That is what I meant :)

No, the artifacts are as bland as bland can be. I didn't bother screenshottign them because there was no details to revel in.

Actually, I didn't bother including any, because there wasn't much to see. maybe I'll go back and add one or two :)
