I don't really see any room for improvement. I mean, you're sitting staring at fucking rocks all fucking day, instead of actually doing something requiring skill or thought or touching the keyboard... You want the rocks to shoot back at you? There are rocks that shoot at you: they're called rats, and they're what most carebears mine. For more materials and money than miners, ironically...

Slightly flawed, there. Rats don't tend to drop any ores. Ores are what your ship is, in most cases, made out of. Equipment and ships and all your fun pew-pew pellets... Those are all manufactured. They're manufactured from "carebears". Like it or not, everyone on EVE needs "carebears" to exist. Miners are what let you blow the everloving crap out of random people. They make your ammo and guns and ship possible.
Rats drop equipment, which can be broken down into ore. In addition, ratters are carebears too.

Hell, I wouldn't even call miners carebears, really. Miners are more like serfs. Whether or not they provide valuable materials doesn't elevate them above the level of serf.

Now, if they also did high end industrial work/research, then there's a case for them being higher, but then again, to be a dedicated miner, you have to more or less exclusively develop the related skills, all so you can stare at more rocks at once after a few months...

Ratting loot is like Goblinite.
They actually made some adjustments recently to reduce the amount of minerals that comes from running missions and ratting.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

i take offense to that. mining does require skill or you end up staring at rocks for hours >.> I could clear an average sized belt quite quickly on my own. staring at rocks, pah, you should be watching timers and your scan reports while keeping an eye on local while managing your crystals and making sure your cargohold is never within 1337m3 of being full.

with the lack of asteroids flying around you at the same old distance for ever and ever, mining is a lot like PvE combat >.> in fact it's pretty much exactly like fighting drones. I'm assuming you would never go up against the computer with a build you cant win with and thus have to resort to running around like a chicken without a head, that does sound like fun but also a waste of time.

Shooting rats involves explosions, and is therefore better.

Let's look how the "being reported" thread transforms into an EVE-nerd thread :).

We are merely "reporting" on the happenings in EVE. See, this is why you don't make a thread topic with a word that has quotations around it.

Personally, I started as a miner but have several combat ships. I have a long-range drone boat that I use to spank the crap out of anything 100km away. :P I'm getting into manufacturing and research, though, as that was the primary motivation for mining; I want to be self-sufficient in my industry.

Just got a warning for posting a picture of pedobear in the "This is the worst thing I've ever seen" thread. Oh well, I should act like an adult in an adult thread.

I think posting a pedobear anywhere is kind of asking for a warning, really. ;)

Tis the nature of the beast.

Amazing how hard it is to get some people to understand that not everyone is a pervert, or someone who gets off on perversion. Use the 4 letters and spoiler tag for such images, and avoid making stupid "jokes" about rape and such things. Maybe this isn't the place to antagonize you over this, but you wear on my nerves. Sometimes I think Threetoe is way too indulgent.

Exactly! There is absolutely nothing confusing about the thread title .!42..?/\. Nothing at all.

It was a spoilered (for size, as it quite large) picture of a bear. No caption, or anything NSFW in it, aside from the connotations someone already familiar with it would derive. Hell, I've seen it on fucking bumperstickers before...

Hell, I've seen it on fucking bumperstickers before...

And I've seen completely nude women on porno video covers in gas stations, and "fuck" spelled out on t-shirts and bumper stickers. The fact that you know of a specific example of one other person wanting to show something publicly doesn't have any bearing on its actual appropriateness on this forum.

An unlabeled spoiler is not the same, nor even related, to a labeled NSFW spoiler. Knowing Huesoo, if the image was not explicit and he was warned for it, then it is because of the comments he made accompanying it. Judging by what he normally posts, I'd guess it was something along the lines of "did you see when this guy raped a bear? hur hur hur"

That's just speculation, of course. I don't ask forgiveness for lack of patience with him or lack of faith in him.
