Z level issues
« on: April 23, 2010, 01:11:45 am »

Hey all. For some reason I can't go up or down Z levels. After making sure that the key bindings were correct, reinstalling the game and abandoning several fortresses, I can't figure it out. I'm using the Mayday version and played around with the resolution if that may have any effect on things. I hope I can get this settled as quickly as possible because Nutsglazed and the 7 adventurous dwarves of The Romantic Staff living there need to get to work.

Well he said he checked his key bindings, and naturally, people notice they have their caps lock on when entering text but not when working in DF.

Anyway, whatever. Yeah, do what he said and recheck something you already said you checked, just because you might have lied to us.

Also make sure your keyboard is plugged in.

And the computer turned on.

Is your hard drive connected to the motherboard?

Are you getting any errors on startup?

Have you tried flashing the BIOS?

Did you just look at the key-bindings? Or did you actually change them? Ive heard of peoples key-bindings saying one thing but the actual key their keyboard sent was something different. Something along those lines, tho it has been a while. and hell, it couldn't hurt to try ya know? =]

Most likely, you are having non-english keyboard.

I know that in vanilla i have to switch to EN keyboard instead of CZ when starting DF, because < and > keys are mapped as ? and : in that one.

My favourite is changing the keybindings, but not saving them, so that next time you load up nothing works.

I don't know about non-english keyboards, but to save it, press s , which exports it to text.

Press the key, (s) I think, that's marked "Export to text" or something like that.
