clearing of stockpiles
« on: December 03, 2006, 10:01:00 pm »

i had an epiphany while playing just a min ago......its always annoying to me that my stockpiles are cluttered by stone that hasnt/cant be moved(ive never had enough or large enough stone stockpiles for it all) ..what if the dwarves automaticly moved the things that shouldnt be in the stockpile off of it to make room for the things that you want there....

I think they put it under the stone anyway as if the stone wasnt there.

I think its only buildings that blink, like doors, workshops, etc.  I've had bins under rocks, make sense I guess... where else would you put the rock, under the bin?

But yeah a 'clear area' designation would be nice for aesthetics.  I always get a good feeling when I see a farmer clearing away a field.

I have been known to flood areas just to use farmers to clear them.

No need to flood!  Designate a huge channel, then cancel the channel before it gets complete.

A little more screen-watching necessary -- if it gets finished, the channel becomes permanent -- but it doesn't take the hassle of making a working irrigation system either.
