Ooze for blood

I'm trying to make a creature which is essentially a chitin layer with black ooze underneath. I also want them to secrete small amounts of said ooze (this is not as necessary, but still). How do I do this.

Also, is it possible to make their be more than enough of them to survive worldgen, yet still be infertile?

I suggest examining the cave blob creature, it covers most of what you want.

Maybe someone in a cave who decided to blog about something. But he doesn't have any idea what he is talking about because he is down in a cave all the time??

Anyways, it worked like a charm. I'm using this for what is probably a very intense DF overhaul. You can't even mine in it anymore :D.

So just out of interest, does your creature leave trails of slime, or is just covered in the stuff?
