I think those are called Blackguards.

There is a Paladin Variant on the GitP forums which lets you be any alignment (except True Neutral, I think), and you get to smite anybody with an opposing alignment.
But the idea of a True Neutral paladin who smites all those who overzealously promote their cause... :P.

Tyranny.

I've come to a decision. We're going 4e. It's easier to make and keep track of encounters, I'm more familiar with the rules, I have access to more of the books, and I generally prefer it over 3.5.

If you need help with character generation, feel free to ask me anything. All books are allowed, standard 22 point buy. You've got around 5 days to make and finalize your character.

To help you out, here is the useful, if slow-loading, Pathguy's javascript 4e character creator.

Additional char gen stuff:
All alignments are allowed, including CG, LN, CN, and LE which were cut from 4e for no reason I can see.
Expertise (implement and weapon) feats are free for everyone, you don't have to buy them, since they're pretty much mandatory.
If you want to, you can make a hybrid character. I'd advise against it if you don't know the system that well.
Make a background. Setting info is below

Additional Game Stuff
Maps will be done, by me, in Illustrator.
If it's your turn, I will hunt you through the forums and PM you once a day until you act.
If you act like a prat for no reason, you will suffer.

Setting: I'm going to take you through the Scales of War campaign, since I already have a few maps for it created, and it starts at level one and goes all the way to level 30. Not that we'll ever get that far, but it's nice to have some headroom. Now, here comes setting info. There's a lot of it.

How many characters are you accepting? Keep in mind that there is a pretty huge demand for this, so you will have to cut us off at some point.

First-come-with-a-character-sheet, first served?

No, survival of the fittest. I know at least one decent 4e D&Der who's muted at the moment.

Basically, get your character in, and I'll choose a balanced party out of the best ones on Friday.

Okay, looks fine to me.

One thing, to newbies who want to play wizards, Expanded Spellbook is a Trap.

I'm a bit confused as to how attacking actually works in D&D 4E. Is there any such thing as a regular attack, or am I using At-Will powers every single time?

I believe that there is a regular attack but ya you will be using at will all the time.

Yes, there are basic attacks. They're used for attacks of opportunity and when you charge. You can just use one instead of an At-Will, but really, At-Wills are always better, unless you have no At-Wills/Encounters/Dailies that can hit someone right next to you, of course. And even then you can just shift.

The reason I'm wondering is because I'm not sure if my throwing daggers count as 'light blades'. If they do, I am totally set to make pincushions out of things.

So, I add my weapon proficiences to my At-Will attacks, right? That would give me a +8 with the dagger and a +7 with the short sword?

If you want me to provide a backstory, I can do this as well.

They count as both light blades and thrown weapons.

I did ask for a backstory. Take into account the setting info.
