That or they're not, you know, Jewish or Christian or even religious.

It's a possibility.

It's pathetic that people quote weird cultural things from the old testament as if it invalidates the whole Christian religion

Besides, there's already an Atheists thread. If you would like to discuss religion, go there.

Yes, that's right.

Why did you point that out?
Because people have forgotten it to the extent that they find pleasure in other people's suffering

This is all I need to justify that pleasure taking

A song does not justify finding pleasure in other people's suffering. :/

It's funny. I don't usually take pleasure in other people's suffering.

Not that I don't do it at all, just not often.

It justifies it for me. =p

Anyway, didn't Jesus explicitly state that he without sin should throw the first stone? So, basically, by criticising people taking pleasure in other people's suffering, you're breaking another one of the major morals Jesus spread. One of the few he outright stated, too.

I don't really get that feeling of pleasure from other people suffering. I either feel neutral, or I feel... sad.

And besides, I'm agnostic. I don't really believe in Christianity.

You are a very unique human being then, Acanthus. I've laughed at everything from my Dad getting electrocuted to a friend falling over and sliding down the road.

That was more of a reference to the other guy who started the discussion.

Yeah, seeing my dad electrocuted would freak me out and leave me pretty shaken. I don't usually find someone getting hurt funny unless I'm sure it's pretty minor.

This is all I need to justify that pleasure taking

Not to be picky, but calling people out for trying to outright murder someone for doing something wrong is not the same as finding manipulation of another human repugnant.

Also: Jesus did not say "he who is without sin criticize the murder of this man". He said, he who is without sin cast the first stone. Basically:

Killing someone because he sinned: not cool.

NOT:

Criticizing people who are asshats: not cool.

I also agree with Jackrabbit on the whole calling out someone who's finding suffering funny =/= murdering someone for doing wrong. I mean, if we never did call out people on wrongdoing, even the little ones, where would we be?

Yeah, considering that little story is actually opposes your point rather than strengthen it, I'm not sure why you brought it up.
