Man, Ioric, I have never seen such a monumentally obvious troll. I'm surprised I didn't catch on before. I suggest everybody just glosses over Ioric's posts if we want to salvage this thread for the discussion of future 'Choice of' games.

Has anyone actually gotten particularly far in making anything? I haven't gotten past my startup chapter. Maybe I'll work on it a bit this weekend.

I'm almost finished with my startup chapter in Choices of the Kobold. If I can just stop adding interesting choices I might finish up tomorrow. That is, finish the startup chapter.

Just be careful you don't go too crazy. I actually held back a little bit because I knew there would be more choices in the middle parts of the story, and I would have to write a path for everything there. I ended up making the startup into a back-story generator, and tossing some values around.

Well, most of the choices just juggle stats around, so its not that bad.

Of course, I have made an obscure series of choices that will get the kobold kicked out of his tribe. Will be interesting to find a way to mesh that with the rest.

Well then I'm sure this will tickle you pink.  I'd normally try to comment back at such an obvious personal attack, but someone decided to complain to Toady about being offended by a joke I made without ever telling me they found it offensive first.  Needless to say he was forced to waste his time sending me a warning, and frankly I don't want to be banned for something as stupid as not agreeing with someone, so good for you, you win.

Just to clear things up for ya, Ioric.

Alternate Universe: An imaginary  realm, often a variant  form of the real world, depicting a different way events could have unfolded  or the universe could have functioned.

In other words, the guys who write these things can just make stuff up.

Even with a poorly done gender-swap thing where roles are reversed and so on.

Your only solution is to deal with it.

I think I should try my hand at writing a short story for this. Seems pretty fun. I played both dragon and broadswides several times, dragon about a few months ago, broadsides today. I thought dragon was more fun though, as most of the time I didn't understand the outcome of my actions in broadsides.

To second a previous poster, if any good "Choice of" games get made by the community, I hope they get posted here, because doing so will save the rest of us without time the trouble of searching for them.

Any new stuff on this topic?  I see they've added two player made games but neither seems all that interesting.  The Nightmare one is really short too.

In addition to our games that are nearing completion, we have several more games that are in development but where the development process has been going more slowly for various reasons.  By popular demand, both Choice of the Dragon 2 and Choice of the God are in development, as is Choice of the Wizard.  None of those games are near beta testing, however, let alone release.  For various reasons, those have fallen a little behind.

 I decide to put impress the King.  Then I end up playing him, since the other guys come off as "meh political marriage" and "unsupported flake".  I be all different, and impress him by kicking ass at the joust.

Eventually, though, I decide to marry the Torres guy - I have to help my family, after all, right?

But he actually seems to care, instead of just being all "Hey!  Political marriage!".  When the king calls on me while he's planning our wedding, I accept (he's the goddamn king; I'm boned if I piss him off!), and go to tell Torres.  He's hurt, but doesn't call it off, because somehow my totally-blowing-him-off attitude made him love me.  "How do you feel?" "Awful.  I've just wronged a perfect gentleman."

My previously pretty-good rep tanks like 30 points, and I feel bad for my dickery.

But I've got looks, a totally hot guy, the ability to machinegun fireballs everywhere, and enough money and influence to make a moneysuit for every day of the year, in different colors, in every house I own.  That counts for something, right?

(subtlety was my dump stat, by the way.  Does brainery ever come into play anywhere?)

...This is a good story.  I approve.

Vampire was less interesting, but I was kind of a goody goody.  Maybe I'll try again, and opt to murder harder.
