Taming large animals
« on: April 19, 2010, 05:10:15 pm »

When I use the Kennel function "Tame a large animal" it doesn't do anything, except for bring up what looks like the q screen.

Help please? Thanks in advance.

It should list down any wild creatures you may have caught in a cage (animals brought by caravan are already tame).

Doesn't seem to work for all creatures though, I can't seem to tame the vast amount of raccoons or deers I've caught though I've been taming an assortment of bears, no problem.

you can only tame animals that have the PET tag attached to them.

You -can- tame animals that are PET_EXOTIC, but only if you have a Dungeon Master in your fort. A quick wiki search tells me both deer and raccoons are such... so you'll need to wait for a Dungeon Master to pop by.

Supposedly they come at 50 population, but I myself have never seen one in my games. Haven't been playing that much though, so may be just my bad luck!

Fancy how raccoons and deers are exotic while grizzly bears can be tamed by a dabbling trainer.

In 31_03, I have caged tigers and various other large creatures that should have a pet tag, yet I can not tame them..I stole them from the elves, does this knock off the tag?

If you got them from the elves they should already be tame, afaik.
