It is obvious what I must now do
« on: April 18, 2010, 08:38:39 pm »

I embarked on a human town. Then I hit Play Now! The RNG gave my fortress the name "Townsubmerged." There is an aquifer layer on this map. By Armok, I don't think I have a choice. This town must be flooded.

*Nods, placing a hand on your shoulder*

It is well that you so clearly hear the will of Armok, and so willingly obey.

Godspeed, brother.
*wipes away a tear*
Godspeed.

*glances at FreakyCheeseMan's sig*

Hm...so that's how a pump operator could become legendary for his pumping skill...

Drowning an entire town of humans with water that was below them would make a pretty awesome legend.

Armok truly hath spoken this day. The appearance of the second poster, with such a clear sign in their signature, is merely the waxen seal upon the letter of command.

I'm bookmarking this thread for great justice.

I wish to point out that 'submerged' doesn't really specify in what, and I'm sure there is also magma to be found.

I'll have to use four pump operators working at once to get the water from the temple pool up to ground level.

Forget four, let's go with six.

Make it a controlled flooding and see if you can make an entire city of Legendary Swimmers.

Combine this:
I wish to point out that 'submerged' doesn't really specify in what, and I'm sure there is also magma to be found.

 with this:
I'll have to use four pump operators working at once to get the water from the temple pool up to ground level.

and take it up to 11.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What I'm saying is, first collapse the entire town into a layer of water.
Then collapse that entire layer in magma.

You are going to need more dwarves for this task. Godspeed.

So lets see.
Cave in the entire city to within the aquifer, let it flood then fill it with lava...That would qualify as submerged, yes!

Obsidianized, rather.

For maximum effect - dig out underneath the town, fill dug-out area with water, collapse town into pool, fill with magma to obsidianize it... then build a lake into the obsidian and flood that.

No, just obsidianize it, then dig out the areas that don't include the humans.  Those blocks with humans in them become your new Statue Garden.
