Ive purposely handed peasants training swords... and then lit them on fire to make them more effective at breaking the siege... IT WAS A MOST BEAUTIFUL TACTIC.

Now if it was possible to survive...

Wait, can't we swim in lava now due to melting fat?
So THEREFOR were we to melt the fat off a dwarf, keep them happy enough to integrate back into the army, THEN give them flaming weapons, we could skip the fire proof materiel.

Can't we just get the sword wet then have it catch fire the same way of melting fat and 'acid rain'?

Yes but then the three children hanging off her will catch fire.

I think they're protected via the 'boob flap'.

Hang on, is fire imp leather completely fireproof? As in, the dwarf wearing it whilst standing in the middle of a raging forest fire will not be injured? This is amazing. Are you sure?

Nope, not at all! But I know that modding a dwarf to have fire imp skin rather then normal skin makes him able to swim in lava...

I find this very dissapointing.

I never said they wouldn't protect your dwarf, I just said I wasn't sure it was 100% fire proof, and they will live every time.

Fire proof clothing will certainly raise your dwarfs chances to live. I once managed to get a dwarf to haul burning coal by using dragon hide gloves...Dwarf didn't live, but he DID survive long enough to move the coal.

Or, possibly, dorfs are marsupials and that's why they carry their babies at all times.

Oh come on, women, humans and clowns seem to get along without them.
Dwarven women have beards.

Actually, they don't.

I'm quite sad about this.

lots of stuff

They can EASILY be modded to have beards, just go to your raws, find creatures_stranded, then hold Ctrl+F, paste in [CASTE:FEMALE] and press enter to find instructions on how to make females have beards.

I was also saddened by that development.

I'm now terribly curious as to what would happen if you slap the flame template onto dwarven beard hair. Will try it after a nap.

Tentative hypothesis: Hilarity and alcohol explosions.

Hrm... a beard of fire and booze-blood. This bears testing...
