Music: Inside the Sith BaseUh-oh. I'm guessing the papers won't get us past her.
[Persuade] I'm here for a meeting. Don't worry - I know where I have to go."
Receptionist: [Failure] "Nice try. What - you think that just because I'm pretty I'm also stupid? You better tell me why you're here or I'll hit this alarm and you'll have about three seconds before this office is swarming with Sith soldiers!"
Hm. Plan B: Bribery!
[Persuade] "Look, here's 50 credits - just don't hit that alarm."
Receptionist: [Success] "50 credits? You've got a deal! The Sith have made my life a living hell ever since they took over this base. You know, it's about time someone stood up to these Sith! Just do me a favor and wait until I'm out of here before you start blasting the place up."
Wheee! We're in! And we've got a computer console to play around with (maybe I should have brought T3 in here...). Most of the security cameras just show Sith soldiers, combat droids, and officers.
...I'm reminded of Spaceballs here for some reason.
Umm.... hi. Big battle droid, plus turrets, in the elevator room. I think we're going to have to do something about that.
There we go. It cost a dear price in computer spikes (I REALLY should have brought the droid), but that'll make things much easier.
The first door introduces us to some friends. Let's play a game with them! I call it "kill the Sith soldiers".
Sith:
I don't like this ga- AAAAARGH! Next room: The medical bay. No Sith, but plenty of angry droids. The one after that is a sort of central room / holding facility. Let's see who that is in the field back there.
Do
you remember him? It was way back in the second update.
...Dear heavens. We're
still not off Taris. I'm slow. Ah, well, we're close.
Duros: "I am in need of your help once again. The Sith are going to execute me for removing the Sith corpse from your apartment complex. Please, help me get out of this cage."
"How do I get you out?"
There's a "What's in this for me" option, but even for Hazar that seems a bit callous and moneygrubbing.
Duros: "Switch all the panels on the wall to the red "off" position and I will be released. It is not as simple as it sounds - switching a panel will also switch the panel beside it. You must be careful as you do this, human. If you set all the panels to the green "on" position my cell's termination program will engage and I will be executed."
It actually is fairly simple. The five switches are in an "on-off-on-off-on" pattern. The solution:
One end - other end - middle. It's quite a bit harder to kill him, actually; you kind of have to fiddle with all the ones in the middle to get it to work properly. Besides, we need to make up for ripping Janice off.
What? We're in here for a reason, no need to turn back now!
I really have no reason to not head straight for the elevator that leads to the codes at this point, except those old RPG standbys, "loot" and "experience".
Oh, right, passcard to get into the elevator.
And there's the droid! He's tough and can hit fairly hard; without taking down the shields he'd be even harder to kill.
Not too tough, though, and thanks to Bastila being helpful by spontaneously using her healing abilities (she usually wastes her Force points by buffing herself for weak enemies and trying to use powers against enemies which aren't effected by them) we're barely hurt, either. Also, Hazar gets another level.
Let's celebrate by... going off to the other side of the base rather than using the elevator we just opened up. This droid can be repaired and brought along to help.
We need it, because the next room has a good number of enemies. Also, it's time to show off the most horrible messy part of the KotOR AI! Sometimes you run across enemies standing behind a mine. The tricky part, one would imagine, is getting the mine disabled while under enemy fire.
No, the
real tricky part is the fact that the other party members
love to run out over the mine while you're disabling it. Even if, like Carth, they have a blaster and can fire from behind it.
Despite the added difficulty, however, we manage to kill all the Sith before any of us drops.
After clearing out another room of Sith (also pictured: Bastila showing off by nonchalantly walking up to a droid before chopping it to pieces)...
Oooh, philosophical debate.
"I guess. Still, do you ever wonder if things could have been different? Would Revan and Malak still have been corrupted if the Council had supported them instead of dragging its feet?"
"Do not blame Revan's corruption on the Council! Your Republic saw only the threat of the Mandalorians, but the wisdom of the Masters saw beyond the immediate threat."
"What did they see, exactly?"
"There was something lurking out there, something that devoured Revan and Malak - and many other Jedi. Had the Council sent us all out into the unknown, how many more would have fallen?"
"So you're saying we should have done nothing? Just let the Mandalorians conquer us unopposed? I mean, the Republic was under attack, and the Order abandoned us!"
"We did not abandon you! But the Council were not about to throw lives away foolishly. In time, we would have aided you against the Mandalorians. But you couldn't wait. Revan and Malak offered a quicker answer, and the Republic chose to walk the easy path rather than the path of wisdom. Now we see the results all around us. You asked me if I think things could have been different? I *know* they could have! If Revan had only listened to the Council, millions of innocent people would still be alive."
"Yeah, right. And every single one of them would be speaking Mandalorian. I think we're done here. Let's just get back to the task at hand."
The last room to visit up here is the armoury. Along with some more parts for weapon construction, there's a couple droid attachments here, which T3 already have.
Down we go!
