Ditto. I played the 3D version for about a week. I guess I like adventure mode more, and this version should be more fun for that once all the problems are fixed.

I'm so very glad the surgery's getting fixed, though I hope this loop of 'dress wound.. nothing happens.. dress wound' will be fixed with it. It's driving me insane.

Yeah I just read the little report and it looks like both suturing and dressing are going to be fixed...no more looping with nothing happening

I've been spending my time fleshing out some mods I want to make for myself, as well as working on a AHK macro that will make it easy to do mass testing in arena mode.

Remeber that the game is in alpha dude, we are all bugtesters.

This is a fun job, but atleast we're not professional bugtesters, where we'd be stuck playing shit games hours on end trying to find shitty bugs.

Yes, but settling on a revision that has most of the game-stopping bugs either flushed out or squashed makes it easier to start playing a smoother alpha.

Less crashing, looking/setting up workarounds, and dwarves becoming vegetables due to hospital bugs means more time can be spent actually playing the game with a larger workforce which inevitably leads to flushing more bugs out into the open.

To be honest, I would feel a lot better with an up-to-date version of Dwarf Companion.  A lot of problems or bugs that stop gameplay advancement could be tossed aside with a few clicks, and it would allow for a bit more experimentation (and setting up specific scenarios, for reasons from bug reproduction to checking situations to see if they cause bugs).  I miss that utility so much.

I've found the game to be quite playable even with the bugs.

I find it playable for the most part as well...and I do not neglect the idea that we are all bug testers....I have reported some bugs myself....but I know if the bugs are reported and they are enough to really make it hard for me to play I do not see any issues with holding off til the bugs are worked on a little

I played through 3 forts so far, all of which fell to the invincible forgotten beasts/HFS. Because of that, I'm holding off on playing until things like bronze colossi and HFS become killable again. Having really strong, really deadly monsters that decimate half your army before finally falling is one thing; having ones that are unkillable(except for cave-ins and magma, and magma doesn't work on HFS) is another that is really frustrating.

Hi!

I strongly recommend that you do try to play in your normal style.
Think about it this way:
Toady One can only fix bugs that have been discovered. Which bugs are actually discovered depends on the style/habits of the players testing the game. So, if you don't ever play the game until you think all interesting bugs have been fixed, you may find that some bug spoils the game for you when you actually decide to play. And at that time, Toady One may have decided to move on towards the next release, making a bug fix something you have to wait months for instead of days or weeks.

For instance, I am a surface fortress player, so I noticed the bug that blood will not cleaned in above ground structures. This makes surface fortresses impossible to build, but I was the first to report this bug.

Or I also noticed (and am still collecting data on it) that statues/figurines are not treated exactly like decorative images during trade - which has been a useful feature for me as I regularly trade with elves with whom you only rarely can make trade agreements. Again, no one has noticed that.

As a sidenote, noting the generation data will probably do you no good at the moment. The core routines are still being checked on, so it is likely that the gen data will not yield the same world a few versions later (for instance, when fixing the fish bug, Toady One mentioned a change in some methods in world gen).

lol im not saying im not gonna play....dont forget I have already posted some bugs and all...I just know I will be able to focus on different bugs...and as such I have not run into unreported bugs as of right now so I am just taking a lil time between releases....mind you I also have OCD...so starting forts and all again and again (and bugs especially) get to me on an abnormally unnecessary level -.-

Most of them are still cage-able, like the Bronze Collosi. As long as you don't breach the HFS and unleash the ones who aren't, you're reasonably safe.

Huh. I know Bronze Colossi are cagable, but all the Titans/Forgotten Beasts I've encountered walked right through my cage traps, smashed my doors, and ate dwarf pudding for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With no limbs, because mu military de-limbed them long ago, but they didn't die.
