Alright. Claiming now:
God
Name: Aeros
Appearance: A man with the head of a hawk. If anyone knows what the Egyptian titan looks like in Age of Mythology, that's kind of what I'm going for here. Only wearing a longcoat. He carries a great longbow near him at all times. The bow and his mastery of air permit him to hit any target at any distance should he so choose.
Sphere: Wind, air, speed.
Personality: Normally calm, if cold. Though on provocation, he can act argue - or fight - the strength and ferocity of a hurricane.
people
Name of species: Airnomo, the Fallen ones, the Great Flock
Appearance (and background): Much like their god, the Fallen ones appear much as humanoid birds. However, their natural ability to fly has been taken from them, for displeasing Aeros. The remnants of their bird-forms left their bones brittle, and their bodies frail. Their speed, however, is nigh-unmatched. Being forced to the ground also gave them focus. Their intelligence is rather startling, to the point of turning "bird-brained" into a compliment. Taking pity on his new people, Aeros granted them a chance to return to the air. They, rejected it, having grown, if not fond of, than at least accustomed to the ground. Aeros instead granted them minor control over the air, and a new weapon.
Fighting Style: Generally peaceful and non-expansionistic, the Fallen Ones will, however, fight to the death to defend their home forests. Due to their inherent fragility, however, they abandoned close combat long ago, preferring to strike from a distance. Their great speed, wind control, and powerful bows make them the best marksmen known to the world. They prefer to ambush their enemy, quickly surround them, then maintain distance from the enemy formations while firing arrow upon arrow into the enemy ranks. When ambush is impossible, the Airnomo, possessing the endurance of the wind itself, array their forces in continually moving circles, maintaining their distance and keeping up a constant stream of fire. Of course, their tactics are heavily dependent on the enemy losing the will to fight before the army runs out of arrows. In forests near their cities, this is less of an issue, as messengers and supplies can easily fly through the trees, hidden by the foliage.
Demeanor: A proud race, there are few thing that they cannot tolerate: an insult from an outsider, and any attack on their forests. They care not for the trees themselves, but the seclusion offered them is invaluable. Further, as a symbol of their diety, an unnecessary destruction of the trees is seen as a direct attack on the Airnomo.
History: In time immemorial, Aeros created the birds from the essence of air itself. Some of these creatures flaunted their gift of flight, forming a grand flock to meet he who had created them, and take delight in his presence. In a fit of rage that mere mortals would seek to meet him, Aeros took from this flock their natural ability to fly. Referred to as the Fallen ones, they eked out survival, hidden in the forests for years. Later, upon seeing their longing looks back to the sky and their diety, Aeros took pity on them. Though they did not believe themselves worthy to take to the skies again, they accepted Aeros's gift of the wind. Aeros also taught them to build grand cities around the trees.
Relationship with god: There are powerful, yet conflicting emotions towards Aeros. One sect feels betrayed by Aeros, embittered by their exile from the sky. Most are thankful for their god's renewed love and support for his people. All Airnomo pay respect for their god with their newfound abilities. And the grandest and highest building in any tree-city (as well as the first constructed) is a grand and glorious temple to Aeros.
Preferred terrain: the closest a Fallen One can ever be to their god is in the temple at the top of the great tree-city at Aragem. The forests are their home. Some few believe that Aeros' true domain is in the mountains, but they are a small fringe group.
Growth rate: New hatchlings to the Great Flock occur more or less commonly. What is rare, however, is for there to be more than one chick in a household at one time. Over the 5 years it takes for a Fallen One to mature and leave the nest, custom, if not biology, forbids a sibling from entering the home. An Airnomo remains with the flock for 40 years on average, and can reproduce for all except the first 10 and the last 5.
Hero
Name: Lumipad. The flying one
Appearance: In most ways, he is a truly ordinary member of the Great Flock. However, unlike the hawk that usually manifests itself, he has the head of a great bald eagle, and the size and strength to boot. Taller than any other member of his race, Lumipad is also the strongest, having once fought wing-to-claw with a local wolf and won.
History: In a most auspicious omen, all birds within the forest appeared at the temple on the day of this one's birth. On that day, a true champion of Aeros was born. A great warrior, incredible archer, and perhaps strangest of all, gifted once more with the lost ability of flight!

Army Symbol: ñ
City Symbol: ¢
I'd also like to propose a system, wherein at a certain rate, my armies can turn tiles their on into forests. Additionally, (and partially for balance), the Airnomo can build cities only on forest tiles.
Provided nobody has an issue...
