Lo, Praise the miners!
Pierce the beautiful blue vein...
One hundred clowns smile.

You will be missed, glorious Sternrim, fortress of seven waterfalls (and equal FPS while they were running :/ )

EDIT: At least I got the waterfalls back on before everyone died. Praise Armok!

Many cows restrained.
Milk and cheese sustain us all.
The carnivores weep.

An ambush! Curse them!
Magma rises up and out.
Goblins flee. Too late.

Came back to old fort.
Ooh, what does this lever do?

Elephants and dwarves.
Mortal enemies at first.
Now kill elves as one.

UristMcFisher.
Went fishing in the river.
Torn apart by carp.

Mighty collossus.
Trapped in a small wooden cage.
Freed to play with elves.

I cannot resist the chance to revamp this for the new DF.
There is so much potential for Fortress Poetry. I hope no one minds too much....
These days there are even dwarfy songs, so this thread seems strangely appropriate.

My contributions:

Taiga is silent.
Human merchants are alone.
Diggers under ice.

I have a good cook,
Who chewed goblins to death,
She is Baroness.

Pure necromancy!
A majestic thread rises!
Poetic ale tunes!

My rotting ankles!
The agony is too.. woah..
I admire that chair..

Miner gatherer
He hates picking fruit sometimes
Makes his pick sticky

Trash under the bridge
Now you see it, now you don't
Dwarven magician

The plumpest helmets!
Adamantine socks for all!
.. a bronze colossus..

Bronze Colossus,
Done in by a hammer.
Fancy crab statue.

King is unhappy.
His Mandate was not met.
Hammerer's joy.

EDIT:

I figured this modified version of the Chandler's Wife song would fit this discussion perfectly:

EDIT 2:  Here's a take on the Needy noble (drunken sailor).

Rise from grave, my slaves
Rise and serve me well - Hey, wait!
Necromancer dead

No vermin is left
First year siege, the king is dead
Nevermind, it's Fun

First wave migrants came
Blessed be the cheesemakers
They shall brave the depths

My friends are all dead,
My right foot gone, but what a
Lovely waterfall.

Sig, if I may? :D
