Phantom pain, or extremely terrible infection?

My noble dwarf adventurer just got the skin on his throat cut open (I'm assuming no veins were cut, because there was only one turn of bleeding.) All was well untill I took a nap.



 Now, whenever he tries to walk, he goes into unconsciousness due to the extreme pain. He gets drowsy easily now and I hope you can't die from sleep deprivation. I retired him for now... but is this guy ever going to fight again or should I just put the old hero out of his misery?

Well... I did fight a forgotten beast in a dark tower now that I think of it, and I think I might of inhaled some of his vapor, but it appeared to be doing nothing for a while. Untill now. I bet that's it then. Any way of curing this affliction?

Hmm... you could try traveling to a town and retiring to wait it out.  That should kick things forward a year, so hopefully it'll be gone when you start playing as him again.

Waiting it out really is just about the only thing available...   I don't think there's even a way to counteract venoms in fortress mode, so adventurers are utterly boned in that respect.

Look on the bright side...  At least it wasn't necrosis, paralysis, or bleeding.  Then you'd really be buggered.

Yeah, he gets to live with the DISGUSTING HUMAN SCUM at least. I tried bringing him back to the mountain homes but I couldn't get in Retiring range before dying of dehydration.

You can cure venoms in Fortress mode using antivenin, but that requires a doctor, butcher, and a live animal with the venom. If it's a titan then you're boned. Just hope that it wears off, because some of those poisons don't (cave spider venom for instance)

Yeah, I haven't seen anything in the raws that would hint towards syndromes being curable.  The proposed method for applying it also sounds a bit...  Odd.

I know that antivenins and otherwise useful extracts are planned, but I haven't seen any evidence so far that would indicate that they've been implemented in the current release.


In any case, the adventurer is still boned.  No butcher shops in adventure mode.

I just make poisons and stab peasants so I didn't know. THE WIKI IS A MISERABLE PILE OF SECRETS
