Deathclaw are already supermutants of sort (FEV mutated).

And they are unlikely to become intelligent by themselves.

1) They are primary predators so there's no need to learn something to be dominant. They need a numerous and really dangerous enemy to start thinking.
2) It's believed that the first tool was a weapon, a simple club. The deathclaws already have great natural weapons.


All in all, normally they can become new planet main race, but it would take hundreds, thousands or million years. But with the variations of FEV and radiation they could do it quicker.

You are forgetting one factor, Humans. They are quite the persistent bastards after all. (I say they are for I am not human I am a dwarf obviously.)

There's a problem with humans: they are not the greatest evil of the wasteland. There are much stronger entities now. And deathclaws are one of them.

They have a tribal lifestyle and are quite careful and can act in groups, so humans naturally don't present a big threat to them unless they target them specifically (and humans' main problem are supermutants).

Well, I love the Wasteland... But I am having a problem:

My military WILL NOT pick up any ammo that is available, or that I assign. I embarked with some lead rifle ammo to give to my fledgling military, I ensured they all have quivers, and the ammo screen has "Lead Rifle Ammo - 250 CT". No problems there...

Any help?

I have another weird issue, I have plenty of plants... but none show up on the Z menu. (They do, however, show up on the Z - Stocks menu).

I cannot comment on that right now, it must be something strange which happened after Putnam ported the mod to the DF 2010. I will however release a working version soon; today I've populated the irradiated areas almost fully.

wait...was that Putnam's temp-fix...or mine?  mine had that stock problem for a while...but I thought I fixed it...I'll look, but can't promise anything.
Still...best to wait for Deon's real version...because he is completely redoing everything.

Wait, does Putnam's have Enclave? Because I do not have that one...

I was musing over a thought: How about making irradiation a syndrome? You could place it on irradiated creatures, such as glowing ones. Perhaps you could make it so some creature's have irradiated "dust" (such as glowing ones) and some only have irradiated bites/venom. You could, also, place it into a special type of junk "irradiated junk", making it more difficult to build up early...

They already have somthing like this in place. Radcreatures bites are mildly toxic, and Glowing ones are also radiactive.

In the next version, however, with syndroms expanded, we can have true radiation blanketing everything in sight.

yeah i noticed that one... also xeno adv are kinda fun as well, sure none of the armor fits but its ok, you bring your own everywhere you go!
