I use W7UPx64 on my wife's laptop too (because my PC is 32bit) :). It runs much faster.

i can't worldgen. seriously. it slows down to stalled no matter what the world size is and eventually crashes. i do not have this problem with DF vanilla.

Are you sure you do it in the latest version? It was crashing in 0.31.17, but now it doesn't because Toady fixed that bug. World generates slowly (usually it becomes stuck at finilizing entities) but it generates fine for me.

regular world gen works perfectly, but i can't use any of the advanced parameters. i can usually gen a world in 5 minutes - these have been running 30/40 minutes and barely even respond to ESC or Enter after a few seconds.

Yes, I have the same issue, DF calculates something too much, but if you wait and do not alt tab it shouldn't crash at all.

This mod adds a lot of new creatures, and new entities have many castes, so it's much more demanding during worldgen than vanilla. I wonder why don't I have such problem in Genesis.

Yeah, if you set parameters wrong. Are you sure you have enough place for all desert/badlands civilizations? Use the america settings, they work for sure.

The "HUB" and "RUSSIA" are from old versions so they should give a lot of denials.

I usually get a working world at 5-15 rejects. Anyway, I will work on the worldgen settings more when I get time.

Here's the promised patch. The imps are now properly human-sized and I've added doom demon graphics to the graphical version (for lost souls, imps, bull demons and cacodemons).

It takes longer because it is soo much more cooler than Genesis, in my opinion, it is better.

When will it be officially a Wasteland? My world has to many tree's. I miss the large, vasts-open desert.

maybe i just lucked out, but is there some mod related reason there's gigantic patches of native gold all over my map? i'm talking thousands of units.

As I said, the worldgen settings is the next thing I am working on. Right now you can just raise the minimum/maximum temperature and get a barren and hot world.

Right now tweaking min/max temperature and reducing rainfall makes even those areas which look like forests/swamps into deserted areas with dry grass. Try it, it works :).
