I had an idea for a workshop I would make it but I have  no modding skills
Its a workshop where you stick in an item called Insta Food Packets and it gives you some 10 Food it could be any number really just saying people in the vaults would have a backup which would have to be small to not take up space so ya I thought it might be a good idea

Maybe a stone shrine? You give it any kind of metal bar, and it gives some kind of food back?

The food packets wood be really valuable and rare and you could only find them in caravans and when you first embark

That's nuts, why would you find food packets underground?  Maybe a trade only item instead, like order them from the wastelanders or something?

Ya but unless it's a plant with no seeds (which would still grow, I mean what the heck?) you'd be able to mine them everywhere, or they'd be plant-able.

So, you want a infinite source of food? Because that is basically your suggestion.
No, that would be to easy. If you want it that bad, mod it in yourself.

Uh, no. I don't think it is possible to mod something that is only accessible though Caravans.

that reminds me...we never saw how vaults made food...or what they did with their dead...I always assumed they had either an hydroponic agriculture floor and an incenerator...or knowing Vault-Tec, probably a Soylent system
...hmm...Soylent workshop would take up less space than a memorial hall...
