As an addenum: I've been wanting to build a Temple of Doom complete with sacrifice pit for a while. As soon as DF2010 gets the openGL update, I'm doing it

Okay, that's nasty. You're supposed to stay well back of that. :D

...IMHO the self-crucifixion-with-actual-nails thing is arguably worse than self-flagellation. Which is bad enough.

It depends. During the crucifixions (which aren't actually approved of by the Church) care is taken not to damage anything important. Flagellation is less controllable (for some reason).

Also, that first result? Not surprised. Hahaha.
